Summer Office Hours
Beginning Monday, June 13, the Administration office hours will be as follows:
  • Monday - Thursday, 9am-3pm
  • Friday 9am-Noon
  • The office will be closed July 1-6 in observance of Independence Day
  • The office will be closed every Friday in the month of July
The school is lightly staffed in the summer months, so if you reach the voice mail prompt instead of a person, please leave a message.  Some teachers do not check their voice mail on a regular basis during the summer, but the Administration office will be happy to return your call.  Please follow the phone prompts to leave a message in the general mailbox.

Let Us Help You Get Your Garden Ready For Summer!
Come check out Canterbury's Farmers Market next Tuesday, May 31, 2:45pm - 3:45 pm, in
Berry Hall courtyard. We will have herbs, flowers, and vegetable plants for sale. All plants were started from seed and lovingly cared for by the science classes in Vetter Greenhouse.
All plants are $1. The funds raised will be used to purchase plants for our garden next fall.

School Supplies For 2016-2017
The CPA is partnering with School Tool Box to offer the chance to purchase your students' school supplies for the next school year online - a great way to save time and money this summer and support the CPA!  All grades may purchase their supply packages at cost plus a small processing fee that goes to the CPA (less than $2!).  All supplies will be delivered to your children's classrooms prior to the first day of school.  Please look for an email before the end of school once the School Tool Box website is live and ready for purchases.  The website (www.schooltoolbox.com) will be available through the end of July.  If you do not wish to purchase your school supplies through this service, Canterbury will also be posting the supply lists on our website.

Interested In Spending More Time With Spike?
Spike is in need of a home for the summer.  Our lovely bearded dragon is sure to add
fun to your summer months!  All food will be provided.  Please contact Mrs. Meyer
(meyera@canterburygso.org) if you want more information.

Attention Rising 7th Grade Parents
Effective last year, the State of North Carolina now requires all rising 7th graders to have a booster dose of Tdap vaccine and the first dose of Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine (MCV). We must have verification that your child has received these immunizations before the start of school in August. Please bring a record of this immunization to the office to be added to your child's file. If you prefer, your pediatrician may fax it directly to the school. Our fax number is (336) 288-1933. If you have any questions, please call the office.

You're Invited To Movie Night
Canterbury families and friends are invited to attend the 5th Annual Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices (BHHS) Yost & Little Realty Family Movie Night on Friday, May 27, at 6:30pm, at NewBridge Bank Park, home of the Greensboro Grasshoppers. Come spread out a blanket on the baseball field and enjoy an exclusive screening of "Minions!" The cost of admission is one canned food item to support the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC. Please click here for more information.

Class Lists Will Be Sent In August
Class lists and teacher assignments for 2016-2017 will be sent out in early August.
Please accept this gentle reminder not to make a special request for a particular teacher for the upcoming year.  If you feel there are academic reasons to make such a request, please contact the appropriate division director.  Each student will be placed in the class that the teachers and division directors feel works best for him or her.  Thank you for honoring this important Canterbury tradition.

Come See A Soccer Classic: 8th Grade Vs. Faculty And Staff
Everyone is invited to join us for the 8th grade vs. faculty/staff soccer game on Tuesday, May 31, right after school, on the soccer field. This is a highlight of the year and always a great game!

Teacher Gifts? CPA To The Rescue!
Is the month of May a little hectic at your house? Are you feeling pulled in different directions and worried you might forget something? Rest assured. The CPA is here to help! We are taking care of gifts for all of the teachers and staff who work part time and full time at Canterbury with an end of the year gift card. Donations to this gift fund provide an equitable means of giving to all who lead and nurture our children throughout the school year. If you would like to contribute to the fund before the school year ends, please send a check made out to the CPA to your homeroom mom, Tricia Faircloth, or turn in a check at the front office. Your participation is voluntary and certainly appreciated!  If you have any questions, please contact

Missing Library Books?
Thank you for helping us track down all of this year's library books! Please remember that if there are outstanding books at the end of the year, the student's report card will be held until the account is cleared. Notices have been sent home several times over the past few weeks. Please contact Kari Baumann if you have any questions about missing books.
BackPack Beginnings Needs Volunteers Next Year
BackPack Beginnings counts on community volunteers delivering food to Head Start centers and elementary schools. This year 14 Canterbury parents took turns making weekly deliveries, providing nearly 3,000 bags of food to children.  Would you like to join Canterbury's team of BackPack Beginnings delivery volunteers for the 2016-2017 school year?  If so, please contact Terri Maultsby
terri@thinkeatgrow.com.  Volunteer training will take place in late August, beginning before the start of school.

Canterbury Summers Triple R Camp: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
Canterbury Summers includes a camp for children who want to be creative and innovative while recycling, reusing, and reducing product waste. Parents and faculty can support the camp by recycling clean, gallon-size milk jugs and dropping them off at the Extended Day cottage through the end of the school year. Campers will work together this summer to create amazing structures using these milk jugs.
