The Best Part Of Waking Up...Is Canterbury Coffee! Time is running out to stock your cabinet with locally roasted "Canterbury Blend" coffees. The 8th grade, which traditionally raises money to buy a special gift for Canterbury, has partnered with Canterbury parents Joe and Brooke Fowler, owners of Cafeagency Organic Bean Coffeehouse, to offer three special 100% Organic and Fair Trade Arabica whole bean coffees exclusively for this fundraiser. These delicious locally fresh-roasted "Canterbury Blend" coffees (dark, light, and decaf) will be packaged in one-pound bags and will be available for pick-up at school. Please turn in order forms and checks (made out to Canterbury School) to your child's homeroom teacher or the front office no later than Monday, March 9. Thanks for supporting the Class of 2015.

We Want Your Shoes
As part of the In My Neighbors' Shoes experience, our 7th grade will spend part of the day on Thursday, March 5, with the children from Newcomers School. Many of the refugees served by the Newcomers School arrive in Greensboro without shoes appropriate for our weather. We are working with The 5:14 Initiative to collect new or lightly worn shoes for the students at the school. There are collection boxes in the front lobbies of Armfield and Fry Halls, and we welcome any donations. The students would like to deliver the shoes by tomorrow, March 6. There is more information on the Middle School and Lower School Haiku pages.

Canterbury Will Offer Full-Day Care For Four Weeks This Summer
Over the last year, a task force of Canterbury faculty, staff, and parents looked at ways to expand our summer program, including possibly offering full-day summer care at Canterbury. The group visited other schools, surveyed parents, and collaborated on ways to add fun summer experiences for children. The decision to add full-day care was dependent on the number of children registered by March 1. Those numbers indicate that the best way to expand Canterbury's summer program is to offer our regular four weeks of morning camps and add a noon-6pm component for those four weeks. So, for the summer camp weeks of June 15-19, June 22-26, July 20-24, and July 27-31, Canterbury will add an afternoon option that will take the place of the C.A.T.S. camps. These afternoon sessions will be programmed to offer structured time for art, free play, and outdoor activities. The goal is to expand the all-day program to more weeks next summer. You can still register for summer camps and the afternoon option here.

Yearbook Deadlines Are Approaching
Lower School: Many lower school families are creating custom pages for student yearbooks on TreeRing. If you have not started, there is still time to log into TreeRing and begin. You received an invitation in the fall to activate your account but if you missed it, contact Molly Stouten.
Middle School: Most middle school students have created their own accounts on TreeRing and are busy making their custom pages. Those under 13 have done so with parental consent. Many parents may be interested to see what their middle school student has done so far, and may have some great suggestions for content. If you wish to be in the loop and you don't already have a linked account you can have a TreeRing account that is linked to your student's. You got an invitation in the fall to activate your account, but if you missed it, contact Molly Stouten.
8th Grade: 8th grade custom pages are due on March 17. These will be printed in a special supplement and given to all 8th graders.
General Reminders: When custom pages are complete, don't forget to set them to print ready. Do not pre-order a book or pay. Yearbooks are purchased by the school for all students in grades K-8.Photos are still welcome. We need photos of the MLK chapel, class parties, and other fun times at Canterbury. You can share your photos on TreeRing.
