Sears Cafe

Marla's Brown Bag is the only vendor for Sears Cafe. Some important reminders:  

* Ordering for session 2 is open
* Deadline to receive lunches first week after the winter 
  break is Thursday January 1st
* To register enter School Code is TJSS288
* New menu items fresh fruits and veggies offered daily 
* Potbelly now on Wednesday 
* Deli Day On Friday 
* Soups, Chili, and new sandwiches
* Jamba Juice will be offered: 1/16, 1/30, 2/27 & 3/27

 

 Lost and Found


Lost and Found is in the basement. Please come to claim lost items.  Any unclaimed items in Lost and Found will be donated to Northwestern Settlement House and Family Promise of Evanston if not claimed by this Friday, December 19th.

 

World Link Update

We are pleased to highlight the Middle East, a region rich in history with a diverse geography, people and culture, as our World Link area of focus for this school year.  A sample of World Link activities through December include: the creation of a Middle East teacher website and introductory presentation, a focus on Middle Eastern music through the school's choral program including a workshop with a Middle Eastern musician, a presentation to select grades by Representative Bob Dold who discussed the political and historical importance of the region, a regional food tasting, and an introduction to cricket through PE class.  

Screen Break Drawing Contest

The Alliance for Early Childhood is excited to announce the ScreenBreak Drawing Contest!  The theme this year is: Color Your Adventure.  
* Drawings must be done on 8 1/2" x 11" paper.
* Use a black marker or black felt tip pen only (for clear copying).
* Include your name, address, school, grade, email, and phone number   on the back of each drawing.

Drawings may be submitted to your Alliance rep, or at the Winnetka, Wilmette, or Northfield Library.

Entry deadline is: Monday, January 19, 2015

The winning drawing from each division will be professionally framed and featured on ScreenBreak promotional materials.  1st, 2nd, and 3rd place drawings will be featured inside the ScreenBreak Guide, and Honorable mentions will be listed in the ScreenBreak Guide.

The Benefit is Blooming

We hope you have seen the Benetfit "Giving Tree" at school. We are very grateful for each bloom as they represent a monetary donation to the 2015 Sears School Benefit which funds the JSSPVA's annual operating budget. To help our tree continue to bloom, make a donation today! Any amount helps and is fully tax deductible. Send checks to 541 Kenilworth Avenue or place in JSSPVA mailbox in the front office. 

Chess Club in 2015

The next Chess Club session is Tuesday, January 20 through Thursday May 7, 2015.

Location:  Auditorium 
Time:    12:05 pm - 1:00pm
Days:    1st Grade -  TUESDAY
              2nd Grade - WEDNESDAY
              3rd Grade and older - THURSDAY

Costs:    $135 for every student

 

Note for 3rd-7th grades: There will be no Chess Club on Thursday, February 12, however there will be an extra session on Thursday May 14 to make up for this lost class.


If you are not registered for this session, please complete a registration form, and return to the school office Chess Club mailbox along with a check payable to JSSPVA before January 14th, 2015.
