Helping Hands

This photograph was taken when Nora and Logan Spratt visited the site of the Habitat house being built in Sedgwick. Nora and Logan, along with Eve Lameyer, raised close to $800 for this house as a Lenten Project. Brush in hand, Nora and Logan pitched right in to help the crew do some painting.

Emily Blair's Reflections

We are now entering into what we call Ordinary Time in the church year. For the next twenty-nine weeks, we are called to focus on the mystery of Christ without the glitzy distractions of showy colors and costumes, signature hymns and fanciful stories.

It simply comes down to Christ with us, Christ in us and Christ for us. Of course there is nothing simple about this realization and that's the point. Ordinary Time offers us the opportunity to deepen our experience of what this means to us.

As I went to check on the baby goats in my barn the other night, I noticed the first fire flies flickering like tiny diamonds in a sea of darkness. It occurred to me that our encounters with the holy are like fire flies. Flickering bright points of light that thrill our darkness. But we have to be awake to see them.

As summer approaches, we give thanks that our pews are filling with returning friends and new guests. May our welcome reflect Christ with us, Christ in us and Christ for us.

In Christ's peace, power and love,

Emily Blair+

Many Thanks

Oh so many thanks ...

... for how the Spirit has been stirring new life in us;

... for your openness to new way of being church;

... for each person of this parish

and ways everyone contributes to our life as a faith community;

... for the leadership of our Vestry and of Senior Warden Dixie Gray;

... for Brian, our organist and parish musician;

... for Sharon, our Parish Administrator;

... for our Priest Associates, Ian+ and Rick+;

their presence and ministry among us provide continuity and diversity;

... for Emily Blair+, our Priest-in-Charge;

... for the lovely, gracious, festive and fun reception on April 26th;

... and thanks beyond words to Jim.

Being Priest-in-Charge has been a gift of being with you, of learning from you, and of exploring together what it means to be Christ's hands and feet and voice here and in these times; a gift wrapped in joy and tied up with love.

I have stepped aside; and we are letting go. We, you and I, are letting go of me as Priest-in-Charge. We go forth to love and serve the Lord in new ways. My going forth for a while will be rest and being sure I let go of all that is inherent in being "in-Charge." You, the people of Trinity and the Vestry, go forth with Emily Blair+ and the innumerable gifts and profound compassion and passion she brings as Priest-in-Charge. You go forth together as people of justice, reconciliation, joy and hope; people whose lives shine with the light and love of Christ.

Blessings,

Peg+

News & Notes

Otter House

We wanted to let everyone know that the Board of Otter House met in May and voted to close the day care due to low attendance rates. We at Trinity are sorry to see them go and will miss the little voices that have filled the downstairs for so many years. The official closing is slated for the end of August.

Church School

After two years, Carol Adams has decided to step down from heading our Church School. We are so grateful for all that she has done in scheduling, teaching and providing curriculum, and we offer her our heartfelt thanks for a ministry that has meant a great deal to our children. She has generously agreed to stay on until the end of June.

Now we will need to replace Carol and are calling any and all who feel this might be a ministry they are called to. Please pray about it and get in touch with either Emily Blair or Dixie if you are interested.

Name Tags

Sharon has begun to update and redo our nametag display. You will find new white labels and fresh plastic covers. It is especially helpful in the summer when we have many guests to use those nametags. Thank you so much Sharon!
