Today is the first day of the North Carolina General Assembly short session.  We won't know how short or long it will be, but it's important to be informed and stay engaged. Check out information on HB2, two trips to Raleigh, and an opportunity to hear from Rep. David Price. 
Short Session and the Report from Raleigh

Most local elected bodies have had their meetings with the North Carolina General Assembly delegation and the short session will begin in Raleigh today. Though the adjournment date is "to be determined," we'll be monitoring and reporting from Raleigh. Want to learn more? The Durham and Raleigh chambers have joined us in expressing opposition to recently passed HB2 with the chamber in the Capitol City urging for repeal. As we continue to document the economic impact of this legislation, here are some resources for small businesses:
Lobbying for Clean Energy
Join local chambers and their members from around the state for discussions with state legislators on important clean energy policy. Join Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy in Raleigh on Wednesday, May 25 - stay tuned for details!  Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE) is a nationwide network of local chambers in every state. We help local chambers of commerce and their member companies navigate and prosper in the clean energy space. Founded by local chamber executives, CICE's Advisory Council is comprised of chamber CEOs.
Meet Congressman David Price 
We're fortunate to hear from Rep. David Price at May's EDPP Committee meeting. Get an update on federal issues and ask questions of our sitting congressman, 8-9:30 a.m., Thursday, May 5 at the Chamber's Louise Beck Properties conference room. Congressman David Price represents North Carolina's Fourth District that includes parts of Alamance, Orange, Durham, Wake, Harnett, Chatham and Cumberland counties. Price currently serves on the House Appropriations Committee and is the ranking member of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee. He is also a member of the Appropriations subcommittees covering homeland security, military construction and veterans affairs. EDPP Committee meetings are open to any Chamber member employee
