Join in #GIVINGTUESDAY
On May 29, 2015,  staff and volunteers for the Community Empowerment Fund celebrate the grand opening of their new office location at 108 W. Rosemary St. in Chapel Hill.

 TODAY IS #GIVINGTUESDAY!

Charities, families, businesses and individuals across the globe are celebrating the importance of generosity and philanthrophy. 

Let's join in this global initiative! You can volunteer at a local non-profit or make a meaningful donation to an organization committed to supporting the citizens of the Chapel-Hill-Carrboro community.

Re-energize your non-profit board
Sue Adams, with Executive Service Corp,  will show you how to make your annual board retreats meaningful and successful at Non--Profit Roundtable, 4-5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9 at the Chamber office.

This is a great opportunity for non-profits and business people who serve on non-profit boards. 

Registration required. Free for Chamber members.
Recognizing those who serve

Join us in recognizing the men and women who keep our community safe at Salute to Community Heroes presented by AT&T, 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 10 at University Place.

At the 2015 Salute to Community Heroes, the Chamber will recognize:
  • Carrboro Police Officer of the Year: Sergeant James Walker
  • UNC Public Safety Employee of the Year: Sergeant Michael Laffan
  • Chapel Hill Police Officer of the Year: Officer Brad Kramer
  • Orange County EMS Employee of the Year: Emergency Management Coordinator Kirby Saunders
  • Orange County Sheriff Employee of the Year: Chief Deputy Jamison Reed Sykes
  • Chapel Hill Firefighter of the Year: Master Firefighter James R. Spero
  • Carrboro Firefighter of the Year: Driver Josh Asbill

The Chamber will also present the following awards: Citizen of the Year, Jim Gibson Volunteer of the Year, Town and Gown Award Recipient, and the Irene Briggaman Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient. 

The evening will include live entertainment and refreshments. No registration is required and the event is free and open to the public.
