Government Matters
Meet the candidates and get out and vote!
As I wrote during the last municipal election, "Don't think the folks at either Town Hall have an impact on your life? Both these elected bodies make decisions whose impact show up in your commute, your day at the park, and your property tax bill. These candidates have an opportunity to articulate their vision for the future - and are charged with seeing that vision implemented."   Learn how YOU can meet the candidates and vote! (And don't miss your opportunity to learn about what's coming out of the ground and where you can fly next!)
Meet the Candidates Thursday!
On Oct. 1, we will be hosting Coffee with Candidates at The Siena Hotel.  This is an informal opportunity to meet candidates for Carrboro Board of Aldermen, Chapel Hill Town Council, Hillsborough Board of Commissioners, and Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education. This is a free event open to any Chamber member employee, but please RSVP by registering online
LUMO Changes Go to Council TONIGHT
Proposed changes to the Town of Chapel Hill's land use ordinance will go to Council tonight.  We have asked you to weigh in in the past, but tonight will be another opportunity to tell Council how Town regulations impact your business, particularly with respect to B&Bs, accessory dwellings, signage, and parking lot landscaping.  Email your thoughts to mayorandcouncil@townofchapelhill.org or attend the meeting at 7 p.m. tonight.

Update from RTA: RDU-Paris Begins in May
Delta Air Lines has announced a new daily non-stop flight between Raleigh-Durham International Airport and Paris-Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG) beginning May 2016. The new flight establishes RDU as the only non-hub airport in America with two daily, nonstop transatlantic flights. The Regional Transportation Alliance business coalition launched the business community's efforts to secure a new international flight in December with the announcement of the Air Service Advancement Project (ASAP), a three-year marketing initiative to recruit and promote new international service from RDU. National experts discussed the RDU-Paris flight potential this spring at the annual RTA Transportation Breakfast, an event that highlighted the Triangle business community's support for new international service and opportunities for success.
