Government Matters
March 26, 2015

It's often hard to sift through all the information we're given by government and the media - and even the Chamber! But we're here not only to advocate for YOUR business interests but to keep you informed and apprised of local government decisions that impact YOUR business. Additionally, we're hoping you'll take advantage of one opportunity where you get to talk face to face with the people making these decisions.

Hot Eggs. Electeds in the Hot Seat.
You've done it before - the boring event where political figures go one by one to the podium and drone on and on...but

we do it a little differently. Join us 8-10 a.m., Monday, April 20 for Eggs with Elected Officials presented by Google at Top of the Hill's Great Room. Come have small group conversations with elected officials including members of Congress, the General Assembly, Board of County Commissioners, Carrboro Aldermen, and Chapel Hill Town Council over a delicious breakfast. Register today!
What IS up with Obey Creek

The Town has negotiated development agreements before, but we want to ensure that you have the information you need to understand the Obey Creek project, an opportunity for office and retail development in the southern gateway of Chapel Hill. Join us 8-9:30 a.m., Thursday, April 2 for our regular Economic Development & Public Policy Committee, open to any Chamber member. We'll have Ben Perry from East West Partners on hand to brief you and answer your questions.

Return on Your Investment

You helped us secure funding for economic development with the passage of the quarter-cent sales tax. The county has now approved a portion of that revenue to go toward business investment grants for local small businesses. Visit  growinorangenc.com/news/business-investment-grant-program/ to download the guidelines and applications. A small committee from the Economic Development Advisory Board will review the applications and make decisions on possible awards. Please help us spread the word!
