The winter issue of Voice will be arriving in your mailbox in the middle of December. Book  Club

Book Club for Primary Teachers


ETFO Online Book Clubs and Early Learning Central have teamed up to create a series of online book clubs for primary teachers! 


Three new online book clubs will be offered in the winter and spring of 2014 including: Primarily Play, Primary ETFO Arts, and Social Justice Begins with Me. Participants will log in for an hour or two each week, read postings, and share ideas, experiences, and artifacts through threaded discussions. Destination AQ Courses Open for Registration


ETFO is offering six AQ courses in Europe in July 2014. Interested teachers can take their Kindergarten Part 1/2/Specialist AQ in Italy (Bologna, Rome, Sorrento) or their FSL Part 1/2/Specialist AQ in France (Paris, Nice). Candidates who register prior to December 16th receive a $200 discount on their trip.  


Facilitated by one of our exemplary instructors, 70 hours of work is completed online between April 15th and June 24th. While overseas, participants will be led through a further 30 hours of face-to-face activity by the same instructor. This onsite learning is integrated with the destination. Call for papers

Canadian Journal of Teacher Research


The Canadian Journal of Teacher Research (CJTR) is proud to announce its launch and a call for papers for the 2014 Winter edition. This online journal is a forum for teacher researchers who wish to publish their work in a peer reviewed publication, present key ideas from their research, and interact with readers. CJTR aims to improve practice on the basis of research evidence and understanding.

The first issue will focus on literacy, multi-literacies, and the implications of literacy for student and teacher learning, school-based curriculum and instruction, school systems, and teaching. Submissions should be made to Professor Jim Parsons, University of Alberta.

ETFO Awards Program


The ETFO awards program recognizes the excellent work of our members as educators. Awards for curriculum projects, published and unpublished written works, arts and culture projects, and multi-media productions acknowledge the excellent work of our members. Application deadline for these awards is February 1, 2014.

ETFO Standing Committees


Here's your chance to become involved in your union by applying to an ETFO Standing Committee. Becoming a member of a standing committee will provide you with the opportunity to share your expertise and become an empowering voice on Federation issues related to provincial policies, positions, programs, and initiatives.
