to ACCEPT the MOU?

What happens if ETFO members vote to NOT ACCEPT the MOU?
|
- The 2% salary penalty will be eliminated effective September 1, 2014 and salary grids will be adjusted to reflect what they would otherwise have been except for the salary penalty.
- Pregnancy leave coverage increases effective May 1, 2013, with 8 weeks' coverage at 100% through the entire calendar year. Members in long term assignments and working full-time (greater than 24 hours/week) will be entitled to this increased pregnancy leave coverage.
- Sick leave improvements:
- The 3rd party adjudication process will be eliminated.
- The option of a board paying a teacher on sick leave only two-thirds salary will be eliminated. Sick leave will only be paid at 100% and 90%.
- The 3 unpaid days in the 2013-2014 school year will be reduced or eliminated.
- Members can request up to 5 unpaid days during the 2013-2014 school year.

- All negotiated improvements will be lost.
- The 2% salary penalty would continue indefinitely.
- A return to inferior benefits for pregnant teachers will occur if your current collective agreement does not already have 8 weeks of full salary during pregnancy leave.
- The sick leave provisions of Bill 115, with the adjudication process and the possibility of being paid only 66.67% salary, would remain.
- All 3 unpaid days will be imposed on teachers during the 2013-2014 school year, with no ability to eliminate or lessen those unpaid days.
- ETFO has no legal avenue to return to discussions with the government where the proposed MOU could be changed or amended.
