SLHS CFO named to national industry list

Chuck Robb recognized as health industry financial leader in Becker's Hospital Review

Saint Luke's Health System Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer Chuck Robb has been named to Becker's Hospital Review's "125 Hospital and Health System CFOs to Know" list. These men and women help lead renowned health care organizations in all financial matters while balancing quality patient care and innovative health care reform strategies. The Becker's Hospital Review editorial team used several resources to develop this list, including nominations, prior Becker's Hospital Review lists, and input from industry experts.

Robb became chief financial officer of Saint Luke's Health System in 1999 after serving in finance positions including chief financial officer of Saint Luke's Hospital since joining the organization in 1991. He is a certified public accountant and a graduate of the University of Missouri - Kansas City.

Important information from HR

When applying for jobs within the health system, you must complete an internal application. This application can be found on the Employee eLink and is different from an external application found on the SLHS website. If an external application is completed by an internal candidate, it cannot be used and you will need to repeat the process using the internal application.

Name and phone number changes

If you have changed your name or phone number, please complete the corresponding paperwork to update your information. It is vital to the Human Resources Department that your information is correct for record keeping. The form is located on the Employee eLink under "Employee Tools/Personal." If you are changing your name, you must present the form and your new Social Security card in person to Human Resources.

Human Resources is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., and Wednesday from 7 a.m. -  4:30 p.m.

Saint Luke's Honor Roll

During World War II, Saint Luke's Hospital created an Honor Roll to recognize Saint Luke's employees serving in the war. It was displayed in the old lobby until the early 1960's when the east wing was added but disappeared shortly thereafter. If it still exists, Library Services would like to add it to the hospital archives. If you have seen this important piece of history, please call the Library at 816-531-0560.

SLHS announces R.N. referral bonus program

Earn $2,500 by referring an exceptional nursing candidate for open R.N. positions

No one understands the vision of SLHS like our current employees. That's why we need your help recruiting your talented and dedicated friends and colleagues with at least one year of R.N. experience to join our nursing team. If your referral is hired and meets service requirements, you'll be eligible for a $2,500 referral bonus!

Important information: You must submit a referral form BEFORE the potential new R.N. candidate applies. The program ends Aug. 1, 2013.

Which SLHS employees can participate?

All full-time, part-time, and PRN employees are eligible (except for administrators and Human Resources staff). Wherever you work at SLHS, you can refer a qualified candidate for any location. Managers and supervisors are eligible, except for candidates fulfilling positions in departments they supervise. If more than one employee refers the same candidate, the referral bonus will be awarded based on who completed the referral document first.

What are the requirements for the job applicants?

Applicants must be individuals NOT currently employed by or on the payroll system of SLHS. Travelers and per agency/diem employees working through any vendor at SLHS are not eligible. The applicant must have a minimum of one year R.N. experience.

Current employees of SLHS or anyone who has worked for SLHS in the past 18 months are not eligible. Referral of a relative must follow the "Hiring of Relative" policy.

How is the referral bonus paid?

Employees whose referral is hired will receive their $2,500 bonus in three installments:

  • $500 after the new employee completes the 90-day probationary period
  • $1,000 after six months of the new employee's continuous employment
  • $1,000 after the successful completion of the new employee's first year of employment

Read the full policy for additional details and see a link to the application form.

Aetna Get Active

team challenges

SLHS is half-way through our current Aetna Get Active Challenge Level Up. In this fun new challenge teams are competing against each other in steps and exercise minutes with target levels becoming more challenging each week. Individuals can help "boost" their team members if they reach their weekly goals early. Level Up has one of the best challenge retention rates, holding just under 70 percent. Let's keep up the great work!

It's time to start thinking ahead to our next team challenge, Face Off. Face Off will bring the Get Active challenges to a whole new level as entities will be competing as part of a league. The goal is to become the fittest league at SLHS! You and your team will compete against teams in other leagues to see who can walk the most steps, exercise the most minutes, and lose the most weight. Don't forget spouses covered on the SLHS Medical Plan are eligible to participate with you. Face Off will run from Aug. 19-Oct. 13. Stay tuned for more information!
