Spring Forward
Daylight Savings Time begins this weekend! Don’t forget to set your clocks forward one hour when you go to bed on Saturday night.
Special Offering March 15/16!
We are very close to being able to begin Phase II construction of our ongoing building renovation program. If you missed the message last week due to weather, you should pull it up (see the WACC Sermon Digest below) and give it a listen! In order to take a bite out of the estimated remaining $55K (approximately) that we need in hand to get started, please join us in bringing your special offering next weekend. (Of course, we are glad to receive any assistance with this at any time!)
Spring Mission Trip Prayer Requests
Please be sure and log onto wacconline.org/pray for prayer requests for our group that will be heading to Puerto Peñasco, Mexico, on Sunday to build homes for those in need. Begin now to lift this mighty work up in prayer and continue until our workers are safely home on March 15! We encourage you to set aside a special time each day to remember them in prayer; both you and the team will be blessed.
Spirit Night
The youth will be having a spirit night at Jason’s Deli from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, March17 to raise funds for the Summer Mission Trip to Pachuca, Mexico. Just visit Jason’s Deli between those hours and mention WACC when you order, it’s that simple!
Couple’s Shower
Ladies and gentlemen, you are invited to a couple’s shower honoring Jamie Shelburne and Gregory Crowley on Sunday, March 23 at 2:00 PM in the fellowship hall. The couple has registered at Bed, Bath & Beyond, Dillards, and Target. Gift cards may also be purchased from Lowe’s and Home Depot. (Jamie and Greg will exchange vows in a small family ceremony next month. This couple’s shower will be our time of celebrating their nuptials with them.)

Ladies Road Trip
Beth Moore is a speaker and author of best-selling Bible studies and other books for women. We have done several of her studies here at WACC. We have a rare opportunity to see Beth live in Lubbock on July 11 and 12. It’s not very often we get someone of her caliber this close to home. While we are not thrilled about the date (Women’s Retreat at El Porvenir is July 17-20), we are very excited to be taking a group to this conference! It begins at 7:00 PM Friday evening and ends at noon on Saturday. If you would like to join us for this trip please pay the $59 ticket price by March 7. Additional cost will be one night in a hotel and 2 meals. You will not pay for the hotel until we go. For additional information please feel free to contact Tara Wilson in the church office at 352-1442 or twilson@wacconline.org.
Area Men’s Breakfast
WACC will be hosting the Area Men’s Breakfast on Saturday, March 29, in the fellowship hall at 8:00 AM. Jim Shelburne will be the speaker. Cost is $5 at the door. RSVP to Lennie in the church office (352-1442) by March 23. Bring a friend and your appetite for both the Word and some great food!
PrimeTimers Spring Road Trip
Ready to hit the road? Everyone 55+ is invited to join us as we travel to Post, Texas, and the Ragtown Theater on Saturday, April 5. We will leave WACC at 9:30 AM and return to the church about 9:15 that evening. You may take your own personal auto or you may ride in the church vans at a cost of $10 per person. Cost for the theater ticket is $15. Your ticket (and if wanted, transportation) payment must be received in the church office no later than March 20. In addition, you will have the cost of your lunch (at Fuddruckers in Lubbock) and supper (at Furr’s Cafeteria in Lubbock). We will see the show Gethsemane at Ragtown Theater and hear Chip Polk & The Ragtown Gospel Band. There will be a little time for some shopping, and we will have great fun! Hope you can join us! Flyers are available at the information desk or you may contact Mindy at mbriggs@wacconline.org or 352-1442 with questions.
Fight - IronMen Retreat
Men, some things are worth fighting for! Join us April 25-27 at El Porvenir Christian Camp in the mountains of New Mexico for our annual IronMen Retreat. We will journey through 2 Timothy with our speakers, Paul Thompson, Jim Shelburne and Lennie McCay. You may register online at https://wacc.ccbchurch.com/form_response.php?id=33. Payment online may be made only through your checking account (follow the directions on the form) or you may pay at the church office; cost of the trip is $90. Contact Lennie for more information. We look forward to sharing this time with you!
Women’s Ministry: It’s Just What We Do!
Contrary to the normal thought process, Women’s Ministry is not something you join; it’s just what we do! It is a service that is available to every woman age 18 and older. Do you have a vision for how Women’s Ministry might better meet your needs as a woman at Washington Avenue? Let us hear from you – your ideas for fellowship, support, Bible study, mentoring, and more do not fall on deaf ears. We want you to help us better serve you. Please email Tara Wilson (twilson@wacconline.org) or Mindy Briggs (mbriggs@wacconline.org), or give us a call in the office at 352-1442. We want your input!

Family Service Center Needs; A Note from Darnel
Well, spring is almost here; praise the Lord for this wonderful time of year! The FSC is currently getting ready for the warmer weather and has started putting out spring and summer clothing. Please no winter clothing at this time due to lack of storage space. The FSC is currently in need of clothing for men and teenage boys and girls, as always. We also need toddler and junior clothing for both boys and girls. We always accept linens such as sheets, blankets, and towels. Socks and underwear (preferably almost new) are always a need of our clients.
If you have some children’s books or know someone looking to give some away, please bring them down to us. The smile on a child’s face when they find a new book is precious.
Thank you for your support; without you there would be no FSC! God bless.
F.R.O.G. Squad
The after-school Bible club, F.R.O.G. Squad (Fully Rely on God), for children at Lamar Elementary meets on Wednesday afternoons from 3:00 to 4:30 PM. There are currently 102 children on the roll and the group averages 81-82 children per week in attendance. These children hear the Word of God every week and see God’s love in action! Come visit and see what we are all about! This group is in need of volunteers ages high school through adult, both men and women.
It is a wonderful opportunity to be a missionary right in your own backyard! Gary and Rachel Stone lead this ministry.
Feel free to contact them at 341-8599 or
rachdebord@hotmail.com.
