Kopchicks' gift pushes OHIO's The Promise Lives Campaign over its $450 million goal
Athens residents and Ohio University faculty/staff members Goll-Ohio Eminent Scholar and Distinguished Professor
John Kopchick, Ph.D., and his wife, 
Char, assistant dean of students for campus involvement, have committed $2 million in support of academic programs as part of Ohio University's The Promise Lives Campaign - pushing the effort over its $450 million goal. 
 
"The Kopchicks provide an extraordinary illustration of not only the passion OHIO's faculty and staff have for this singular place, but also of the potential each member of our community has to make a difference," said Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis.

Cain receives Leadership Award from national medical education organization
Robert Cain, D.O. ('88)associate dean for graduate medical education, received a Leadership Award from the Association of Osteopathic Directors and Medical Educators during the organization's annual meeting April 23-26 in Santa Fe, N.M.

 

The award recognizes AODME members who have contributed noteworthy service to the osteopathic profession and to AODME during the past year. Dr. Cain was also installed as the organization's president-elect.

Coschigano, McCall project receives Baker Fund award
Coschigano
A diabetes-related project from a pair of Heritage College 
faculty members was among six proposals that received a total of nearly $70,000 from Ohio University's Baker Fund in April.

  

Karen Coschigano, Ph.D., and Kelly McCall, Ph.D., received a $12,000 award for their project titled "Does Coxsackievirus Infection of the NOD Mouse Accelerate Diabetic Nephropathy?"

 

McCall
Coschigano is an associate professor of
molecular/cellular biology and director of the Diabetes Institute's Education Division. McCall is an associate professor of specialty medicine.
