At least 70% of the student body plan and participate in a service learning lead by at least 60% of the teachers.

Through a district-wide partnership with Children Inc., the Boone County School District is engaging all students in service learning experiences.  Service learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities.  BCS students engage in projects such as rehabbing bicycles, giving them to people across the globe who need them, while learning about engineering practices and global issues.  Other projects include learning about water purification and supply and demand while building a business plan to raise funds for water systems to help communities in Africa.

Mann Elementary celebrates Kentucky Kids Day

Students at Mann were greeted Tuesday by Maverick the mascot for Kentucky Kids Day.  Maverick (school board member Steve Templeton) went to each classroom giving students special wristbands.

Kentucky PTA Kids' Day was established in 1985 to set aside one day just for our students. The goal is to send the message to each child that he or she is a special and unique individual who is respected and loved. Kentucky PTA Kids' Day also serves as a day to make the public aware of the educational and personal needs of children and the role they play as our most important natural resource.
