This week we celebrate public education and honor individuals within your child's school who are making a difference in ensuring that every child receives a quality education. American Education week was first celebrated in 1921 and has been held every year the week before Thanksgiving. American Education Week is designed to recognize the professionalism and commitment of educators and appreciate parents and community members who work toward quality public schools for every student.

Wednesday of this week is National Education Support Professionals Day.
Education support professionals drive the buses, clean the buildings, prepare the meals, and bandage the scraped knees. They also include school resource officers, paraeducators, administrative assistants, generalists, health clerks, custodians, maintenance and technicians. ESP's are the first to arrive at school and the last to leave, and schools couldn't operate without them. Even though they make up more than 40 percent of all public school employees, they are an integral part of educating the whole student. They are the unsung heros of our children. Below are highlights from a few of the many support professionals in the Boone County School District.
