The first Florence Elementary Salsa 5K Run/Walk was held on a bright crisp fall day in September.  141 warriors ran/walked the hilly trail at Idlewild Park.  All runners received a race tee shirt, designed by Florence Elementary's very own art teacher, Amber Raap, and a jar of Florence Elementary's famous Honey Apple Mild salsa.  The salsa is part of the farming program that started in 2010.

Please help Conner Middle School on Tuesday, November 18th  at 5 p.m. as we honor Mount St. Joseph's basketball player, Lauren Hill. Lauren was diagnosed last October with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a form of brain cancer which is currently an incurable condition.  The NCAA granted Mount St. Joseph an exemption to play the game earlier than originally scheduled to accommodate the wish of Lauren Hill to achieve her dream of playing in one college basketball game.  Lauren played that game last Sunday.

We will be honoring Lauren at our basketball game vs Twenhofel Middle School on 11/18.  Proceeds from the game will be donated to: thecurestartsnow.org the organization that Lauren and her family selected.  Graeter's ice cream will be available and we will be hosting some great half-time activities. USA Today recently ran an article about Lauren you can read here.

22 members of the Boone County High School Future Business Leaders of America chapter volunteered at Pawapalooza, held at the Boone County fairgrounds in October.  The event raised $16,000 for local animal shelters and there were 15 pets adopted.  By having this event, animals were able to be seen outside of the shelter and grab the attention of potential owners.
