Bus Safety Tips

Make sure your child gets to the bus stop at least five minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive.

If you live on the opposite side of the road from a bus stop, tell your child to wait there until the bus arrives and the driver gives the signal to cross.

Students are allowed to get off the bus only at a regular, designated stop.  Temporary changes, for instance, if  your child wants to get off at a friend's house instead of the regular stop, must be requested by parents in writing and acknowledged by the student's teacher or principal.

Tell your child to walk several giant steps away from the bus after they have been dropped off, but remind your child to wait for a signal from the driver if they have to cross a road/street to get back to their house.  Teach your child to never cross the street behind a bus!

What a way to end a summer full of learning! Students from Thornwilde Elementary were invited by the PTA to a Learning Luau to celebrate their summer reading accomplishments. The school's Wilde Dads program helped students build their own volcano and trigger a lava eruption with dish soap, vinegar, baking soda and food coloring. Science can be such a blast! Students also made their own grass skirts and learned to dance the hula along with teachers and staff. To beat the heat, Kona Ice and Remke supplied their tropical treats and then they wrapped up the evening with quite a limbo line! TES Families Together Everyone Succeeds! brought non-perishable food items to enter the luau and all the food collected will be used to help other Thornwilde families in need. Such a great way to show our students that Together Everyone Succeeds!
