Good News items:

They are also donating their robot field mat and Lego kit to the BCEMA. "The Big What If's" team created a data base on legitimate businesses in Boone County that searches for certain keywords and the companies that offer the services requested. Both projects will be implemented and used in Boone County. Team members from The Big What If's include:
Dylan Coe, Seth Cutright, Andrew Cotton, Tyler Pfeiffenberger, Brady Guo, Jack Shelley and Tommy Sheehan. Team members from The Little What If's include: Austin Coe, Cheryl Thomas, Alan Zhang, Matthew Weaver, Chandler Stegman.
Victoria Yeomanson from Cooper High School has received the 3C Outstanding Educator Award from the colleges of education at Northern Kentucky University, Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati.
Cooper High School Instructional Coach Durell "Butch" Hamm says Mrs. Yeomanson is one of the most distinguished teachers at Cooper High. "What makes Vicky such an excellent teacher is her ability to entertain students while teaching Advanced Placement-English. This skill has facilitated learning in her classroom to the degree that her AP scores are the best of the four county high schools. Furthermore, we have students wanting to take her class because they hear that her classes are 'fun and you learn a lot.' The students are right. Her class is unbelievably filled with high energy, enthusiasm, and engagement. Her students achieve on average 20 points higher than the national average on the AP exam."
Break The Mold
Paul Goodridge, Bus Driver to North Pointe Elementary School is the March 2014 Break the Mold winner! Paul Goodridge is much like a teacher in that he knows every student on his routes by name. As each child gets on his bus each morning he greets them with a "Hello, Suzie, Sam, Paul," and so on. Mr. Goodridge talks to his students and gets to know them on the drive to and from school. If a child is having a particularly bad day he knows it because he knows these children like he knows his own. Before the children get off the bus to enter school Paul involves them in an uplifting song or encouraging message to help get their day started. And that's not all Mr. Goodridge does. He also plays guitar and when invited he uses his musical talent to enrich curriculum in their classes as a special treat.

The Boone County Board of Education established the PARENT POWER Award to recognize parents who have a significant impact on the advancement, growth and development of Boone County Schools. From Goodridge Elementary: Amie and Dwayne Humphrey and Gail Tanner. From Kelly Elementary: Jolene Benedict. From Longbranch Elementary: Jodi Garuccio.
