Coffee Break at North Pointe Elementary

These parents are from North Pointe Elementary School having Coffee With The Principal.  This is a monthly open invitation that Principal Michael Shires has with his students' parents.  It's his way of giving his parents a voice  and at the same time getting feedback on parent/student concerns.  Mr. Shires says  of these monthly meetings, "I welcome the dialog because the parents are giving me their greatest asset, their child."  Some of the topics at this February meeting included homework, too much or too little, how to do the research, by internet or textbook, preparing kids for college and career readiness and even what the temperature rules are for allowing kids outside to play...somewhere in the 40 degree range.  Mr. Shires says anything on a parents mind is worthy of discussion.

Florence Elementary also acknowledged the Runner-up, Jayden Crist, a fifth grader for her excellent performance. To qualify for the regional Spelling Bee the champion was required to take an on-line test.
