First Conversation Leads To More...

The first of four Community Conversations is off to a great start.  More than 50 parents, educators and community members turned out for this one held last Thursday at Ryle High School.  They gathered to talk about what they would like to see as the future direction of education.  Boone County Schools wants you to be a part of developing the district's 5-Year Strategic Plan.  Many ideas were shared including the "flip" classroom--changing classroom structure.  Other suggestions included outdoor classrooms and total technology in the classroom.  The discussions are open to the public and the second one will be held February 20th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Boone County High School.

School Closure Rap...goes nationwide!

Parents of Stephens Elementary awoke Monday morning to a different

but creative school closing announcement.  Principal James Detwiler and Drama Teacher Chad Caddell sang the school closing to the tune of Bohemian Rapsody.  It's become so popular that within hours it went viral on social media, all the local television stations have aired it, it's seen tens of thousands of hits on youtube and it's been aired on The Today Show, The Katie Couric Show, Good Morning America and The List so far.
