Elementary is LEED Certified

Thornwilde Elementary School, designed with energy efficiency in mind, is the first and only elementary school in Northern Kentucky (north of the Lexington and Louisville areas) to receive LEED Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

LEED -- Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design is a set of rating systems for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of green buildings, homes and neighborhoods.  LEED is considered the benchmark for the true pedigree of energy efficient design.

The Boone County School District has always been a leader in energy efficient design and is very proud of the geothermal concepts, and other cost saving, life cycle designs implemented on several of our buildings.

Moms and Dads, students, teachers and neighbors...let's talk.  You're invited to a Community Conversation to tell us what you want to see in the future with education in Boone County.  It takes a community effort to make sure our children are career, college and life ready.  We want to hear your thoughts and suggestions about expanding critical thinking, communication and collaboration opportunities for our middle and high school students.

Your opinion is vital to the future of the district.  Please join us for this Community Conversation.  The first Community Conversation will be next Thursday, January 30th at Ryle High School from 6-8 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served.  See you then!
