New Student Board Member Begins Term
Heyra Avila, senior at Ryle High School has begun her role of student board representative on the Boone County School Board.
The Ryle High School senior was elected by student members of the Superintendent's Advisory Council.

 Stephens Elementary Students help accept Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) Grant Mrs. Carter's 5th grade students from Stephens Elementary represented NKY students at Toyota's presentation of $560,000 to CINSAM and STEM learning at NKU on Friday.
The program was piloted in Boone and Kenton counties last year, allowing teachers to observe master teachers, followed by in-depth professional development. From their learning, teachers took new teaching approaches into the classroom, in an effort to teach complex topics in interesting, engaging ways. Students were given specific criteria such as including a loop and starting the ride with a hill before racing marbles through the looping tunnels. To read more, click here.

U.S. Army and Pro Football Hall of Fame Announces
High School Athlete Award Finalists
The U.S. Army and the Pro Football Hall of Fame recently announced the 10 high school athlete finalists for the U.S. Army - Pro Football Hall of Fame - Award for Excellence. Andrew Way, a senior at Conner High School is among the finalists.
The program entering its second year was first introduced by Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe at the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, highlights the achievements in and out of the classroom of student-athletes across the country.
