Duke Energy supports North Pointe Elementary Nature Trail
North Pointe Elementary staff, students and community would like to thank the 23 wonderful volunteers from Duke Energy for securing a grant of $1,000 for North Pointe to use in future renovation and building projects through Duke Energy!

Duke Energy volunteers committed two full mornings, from 9am to 1pm , to beautifying the trail at North Pointe. Volunteers weeded, cut back branches and placed logs along the trail path. They also dug 12 post holes for the new stepping stones where kids can learn about different animal tracks. They cleared out an entire area where teachers can now create a true outdoor classroom for students.

In addition, volunteers placed steal pole signs throughout the path where public visitors as well as students can learn about different animals and plants in nature & created the animal print stepping stones.  North Pointe is excited to have this hands-on learning environment where children can experience nature up close and personal.

Thanks to Duke Energy and the team lead Kevin Bush who went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make this project such a success!  North Pointe now has a cleared and safe trail ready for the entire Boone County community to enjoy and seed money to support future project ideas and trail enhancements!
