Bill Coleman Volunteer Award

The late Bill Coleman was a charter member of the Boone County Community Education Advisory Council.  Bill never missed a meeting in the entire 25 year history he served!  There are so many things about Bill to admire, but a few to highlight are:
  • He always showed up; you could count on him.
  • He had the pulse of the community; as a business person, out and about in our area, he knew where the needs were and he humanized those needs.
  • He always asked:  "how can we make people's lives better, as a result of our services?"
He was a modest leader; he never stepped in the spotlight; he was behind the scenes making a positive difference.  He didn't want personal recognition or credit, but he was always in the front row applauding others' achievements.

In an effort to honor Bill and our many committed volunteers, The Bill Coleman Volunteer Award was established.  This year Susan Jump from Conner High School is the recipient of the Bill Coleman Volunteer Award.

Susan is the Business Education Success Team coordinator as part of Conner High School's partnership with Citi.  Susan is described as a natural leader with an amazing commitment to Conner High School.  She works with both students and faculty and is able to recognize the demands on them and provide necessary supports.
In her seven years of volunteering at Conner, Susan has been the driving force of the BEST partnership and truly makes a difference for everyone Conner High School.

Boone County Schools applauds her efforts and commitment to the staff and students of the district!
