Two Boone County educators receive Outstanding Educator Award from KY PTA
Jo Craven
 Jo Craven, recently retired principal of North Pointe Elementary and Stacie Kegley, Media Specialist at Longbranch Elementary, have both been named KY PTA Outstanding Educators of the Year!
 
This prestigious award is given annually to only three educators in the state who meet the criteria of; Supporting innovative programs that correlate with local, Kentucky and National PTA programs and projects,  Foster PTA involvement and support, Encourage parent volunteers,  Uses special techniques to motivate students and involves PTA/PTSA members in the decision making process.
 
After 31 years as an educator, Ms. Craven retired at the end of the 2012-13 school year.
Stacie Kegley
Ms. Kegley is the Media Specialist at at Longbranch Elementary  and has been at Longbranch since it opened in 2010 Boone County Schools.
  
The award will presented on Thursday July 19 at 6:30 in Louisville.
 
Congratulations Ms. Craven Ms. Kegley on this much deserved award!
Florence Rotary Club Awards Scholarships to Students

The Florence Rotary Club awarded two scholarships in a special program yesterday at the Hilton in Florence.  Emily Adkins, a 2013 graduate of Conner High School received a $2,000 scholarship from the club. 

 

Emily is very active in the community, her church and in her time at Conner High School.  She was accepted into the AeroScholars Aviation High Schools Course, a pilot program in 12 KY high schools that prepares students for the FAA Private Pilot Written Exam. 

 

Emily plans to attend the University of Louisville this fall.

Florence Rotary also awarded a $500 scholarship to Spencer Holland, an incoming

senior at Cooper High School for his video essay submission about the Northern KY Youth Council. 

The Youth Council is an advisory group to the Northern KY Youth Foundation (NKYF) Board of Directors. The council is open to middle and high school students, including public, private, and homeschooled students, who apply and are selected. The Council also coordinates youth activities in the community and provides insight into programs currently being offered by the NKYF.
