LEGO Town Returns!

LEGO Town is returning to Camp Ernst Middle School!

This complete town made of Lego bricks will be on display Thursday, June 20 (1-8pm), Friday, June 21 (1-8pm), and Saturday, June 22 (11am-5pm).

The town is the creation of volunteer Sam Lapin, whose son is an 8th grader at the school.  It features running trains, an operating amusement park, an airport, a castle, space center, water area, stores, homes, boats, cars, and lots of surprises.
The entry fee is $3 (free to children under 4) and all proceeds benefit the school.  Last year's Lego Town attracted 1800 visitors and raised over $5000 for the school.

Limited tickets are currently available for a VIP event!  The event will benefit the GMS LEGO League team that is competing in the North American Championship.  For more information click here.
Tips for safe summer
The warm weather has finally arrived and the fun days of summer are about to begin. It's important to keep safety in mind as children spend more time outside.

The City of Florence has produced a brochure for parents and care givers to help everyone have a safe summer.

Stephens Elementary first grader moving on to national competition

Congratulations to Mattox Kelly, a first grader at Stephens Elementary.

Mattox has been chosen to have his Reflections Theme Search entry by the KY PTA to move on to the National Theme Search competition.

Renegade Olympics
The City of Florence's adopted military unit is visiting Florence over Memorial Day weekend.  In addition to being featured in the city's Memorial Day parade and program, there are some other activities going on that weekend that the community is invited to participate in.

On Sunday morning, May 26, "Renegade Olympics" will take place.  Everyone is encouraged to come out and bring your families to meet the Renegades during this portion of their visit.  For more information click here.
Put A Positive Spin On Discipline

When it comes to good discipline, remember: It's better to tell your children what they should do (positive) rather than what they shouldn't do (negative). For example:

Negative: "Don't leave your homework scattered all over the table!"

Positive: "Please gather up your schoolwork and put it away before dinner."

By reminding your children of what they should do, you're giving them a chance to correct themselves. Even better, you're not criticizing them.
