Literacy Character Day at Collins Elementary School

Students at Collins, 3rd-5th grade, held a unique day of reading celebration March 1st.  Along with the Accelerated Reader,  Read Across America competition,  they also were able to dress as characters from some of their favorite pieces of literature that they had read and enjoyed.  Many were very creative and loved to talk about who they were representing. The teachers got into the act to celebrate with the children some dressing as:  Thing One and Thing Two, The Cat in the Hat, The Paperbag Princess along with the Mary Poppins, Miss Frizzle and Pippi Longstocking and many more.    A day of reading and enjoying literature was had by all.
