Dear Sacred Heart Family and Friends,
We've been focused on the Kansas Assessment tests and how we will use the data to improve curriculum and instruction. This past week, Sacred Heart students in grades 3-8 took the reading portion of the KS Assessments. I have to admit, that as a new principal, I was anxious about our students' performance. I knew that we had done very well in the past and was hoping for excellent results once again. As the test scores started coming in, our teachers had huge smiles on their faces. Their excitement was priceless and has inspired me to share our reading test results.

Position:
I am the middle school English teacher at Sacred Heart.
Background:
I grew up in Wichita, Kansas, where I attended Bishop Carroll High School. I then went to K-State and majored in education and print journalism. This is my first year of teaching.
Family:
My family still lives in Wichita, and my younger sister, Kathleen, goes to K-State - a family tradition for us!
Parish:
I am a member at Sacred Heart Parish and enjoy spending a time in our pretty adoration chapel.
Hobbies and Interests:
I enjoy reading, running (just finished my first half marathon!), and spending time with family and friends.
Sacred Heart Reflection:
Since my first day here, many students, parents, and teachers have made the transition a wonderful one! I felt sad leaving my family in Wichita, but now I feel like I have made a new family here.

The School Library has an Amazing Problem!
We have 300 new amazing books awaiting processing in order to go on the shelves and be available to our students. The overall process is very time consuming but can be broken into small steps. Can you give 1 hour a week and help move these amazing books through one of the steps and into the hands of our children? Our amazing processing station is open all day every school day and can accommodate several amazing workers at a time. Training will be provided. No special skills necessary just your willingness. You'll be amazed how easy it is! Our amazing students are very grateful for your help!

The Jim Finley award is given to any 8th grade boy or girl who has participated in each of the CYO sports offered during the school year, from 5th through 8th grade. Jim Finley Award recipients are invited to the Awards Night and Athletic Banquet to give a short talk to our youth.
