Kudos: Middle School Students Restoring Water Quality
Over 154 students from Farnsworth Aerospace 5-8 and L'Etoile du Nord French Immersion are part of an environmental service learning project restoring prairie and wetlands in collaboration with the Ramsey Washington Metro Watershed District and Keller Golf Course. On October 24 and 25 students planted native plants with teachers, parents and master gardeners. They learned about water quality best practices and how important they are to our future.
Students Fight Local Hunger Throughout Saint Paul
Students at several schools are organizing food drives to help fill the shelves at a number of food shelves and hunger relief agencies. Schools include Capitol Hill Magnet, Highland Park Middle, Humboldt Secondary, Johnson Senior and Washington Technology Magnet.
On October 31, students trick-or-treated for canned goods and collected non-perishable items at school and some schools will continue collecting donations throughout November. Together they've collected well over 1,000 lbs of food to be donated to a number of organizations including the Food Shelf at Neighborhood House, Keystone Community Services, Sharing Korner, and more.
