Global Compassion Summit to honor the 80th birthday of 14th Dalai Lama

 

A Global Compassion Summit will be held at UCI and the Honda Center in Anaheim in honor of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama's landmark 80th birthday. The summit will take place July 5-7, 2015, and will be the official world celebration of the Dalai Lama's 80th birthday, featuring world leaders, Nobel Laureates, celebrity guests, speakers and performers from around the globe. 

 

Tickets sales open April 2, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.  

 

Hosted by Friends of the Dalai Lama, UC Irvine and the Center for Living Peace, the kick-off will be held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. The following two days of summit dialogues, panels and special gatherings will take place at the UCI Bren Events Center.

Youth Summer Camps at the Anteater Recreation Center

  
Registration is now open for Anteater Recreation Summer Camps. 

 

Youth camps are available to campers ages 8-14 and special teen-only camps are available for campers ages 12-16. Full and half day options are available.  

 

Archery | Badminton | Cooking | Fencing | High Ropes | Lacrosse | Rock Climb | Sailing | Summer Swim

 

Participants are grouped according to age and ability. Beginning level campers are welcome; no experience required for participation in any of the programs offered.

Anteater Recreation Camps take place at the ARC. ARC membership is not required; programs are open to the public. ARC members will receive discounted rates for summer camps and swim lessons.

Celebrate UCI on Saturday, April 18


Celebrate UCI is the campus-wide outdoor festival, open house and car show open to all of the UCI and Orange County community.

 

The student-run festival in Aldrich Park, known as "Wayzgoose," is UCI's oldest tradition and features student booths, live entertainment, activities and food! Most events run from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Please check the  Celebrate UCI schedule for a full list of activities.

 

Many offices and campus services will be open. Activities include:

  • Attend school academic information sessions, panel discussions, or stop by an information booth
  • Undergraduate housing tours
  • Campus Tram Tours
  • Have your questions answered by representatives from campus departments like student affairs, financial aid, admissions and more
  • Connect with other UCI families and parents and stop by the UCI Parent Programs booth to pick up a "Proud Anteater Parent" button and take a photo at the photo booth! 

Events are FREE and parking is complementary.

 

Volunteer to help answer questions and share more about your experiences with fellow UCI Parents and prospective families at our Parent Programs booth at Celebrate UCI! To volunteer, email ccutterd@uci.edu.

UCI Night with the Angels


Show your Anteater spirit at UCI Night with the Angels on Saturday, May 9 for a special UCI Night with the Angels at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Game time is 6:05 p.m. The Angels will face off against the Houston Astros. 


Tickets are now on sale:

  • Main campus - Student Government office, G-244 Student Center 
    ($15 each, limit 10)
  • Medical Center - UC Irvine Douglas Hospital Gift Shop
    ($15 each, limit 10)
  • online - www.angels.com/uci
    ($21.75 each inc. fees, limit 19).

Through this offer, all ticket holders will receive a FREE UCI-themed, limited edition Angels baseball cap. UCI Chancellor Gillman will throw out the first pitch. 


Visit the UCI Village from 4-6 p.m. inside the stadium near Gate 4 for a fun-filled time with UCI spirit, giveaways and prizes. Stop by the Parent Programs table to say hi! 


By choosing seats near the right field corner parents will have a great opportunity to join the spirit of the 'Eater Nation with their students.
