Study Abroad invites you to...
Discover one of UCI's special opportunities for your student - study abroad!
You are invited to visit UCI on November 19, during International Education Week to learn more about study abroad opportunities for UCI
students and join the Study Abroad Center to watch the 2009 film, Invictus, starring Academy Award winners Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman, and directed by Clint Eastwood.
Invictus tells the inspiring true story of how South African President Nelson Mandela joined forces with the captain of South Africa's rugby team to help unite their fractured country through the universal language of sport. It's a film full of emotion, magnetism and revelation.
Enjoy a dessert reception following the movie and join UCI students, faculty, staff and alumni. Admission is FREE. Advance registration required by Nov. 10.
A recent survey of college graduates has revealed that studying abroad may be one of the best ways for college students to find jobs sooner after graduation, related to their majors, and at a higher salary (IES Abroad Survey, 2012). Each year approximately 900 UCI students study abroad or participate in experiential or service learning programs abroad.
Each one returns with thoughtful reflections on what they've learned and how they have grown. One recently returned student described it this way, "There is so much more to life than the normal routines we all get caught up in. When studying abroad a whole world opens up and opportunities appear left and right."
UCI Professor David Blake explains that, "While studying abroad, students benefit by developing a more global mindset. They will also find the strength and confidence to be effective in a different culture and national environment. Students will be preparing themselves for their future success."
We invite you to join the UCI family abroad and look forward to meeting you on November 19.
