The UCI XIV Dalai Lama Endowed Scholarship

In 2004 His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama, world-renowned spiritual leader and 1989 Nobel Peace Prize recipient, visited UCI to discuss ethical leadership and personal responsibility in the new millennium.

The UC Irvine XIV Dalai Lama Endowed Scholarship was established in 2005 in honor of this visit through donations from local individuals and foundations committed to advancing peace, ethics and compassion.

The scholarship supports UC Irvine students who want to design and launch ambitious "compassion-in-action" projects aimed at promoting awareness about ethics, compassionate leadership, local and global responsibility and/or peace.

His Holiness returned to UCI in 2011 to recognize the 2005-2012 UCI Dalai Lama Scholars.

This spring the scholarship will be awarded to a current UCI undergraduate with a record of strong academic achievement, an innovative project proposal and a demonstrated commitment to helping others.

The award amount is up to $10,000 for scholarship and $10,000 for project costs.

Application Deadline: Thursday, April 3, 2014

US Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor judges UCI School of Law Moot Court Competition

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor led a three-judge panel Monday, Jan. 27, for the final round of the UC Irvine School of Law's fourth annual Experian/Jones Day Moot Court Competition.

Conley and Steeve prevailed as finalists through four rounds of moot court competition that began Nov. 12. The winner of the final round was Steeve, a second-year law student.
