The Changing Face of Transportation

Phobophobia is the name of the fear relating to the fear of being afraid.

Phobobia is an intense fear of something that poses little or no actual danger.

Panophobia is the fear of everything.

So, what fears do you have?  Snakes?  Spiders?  Thunderstorms?  Flying in an airplane?  Committment?  Change?   It's easy to hide from your fears. But sometimes, it's good to embrace them.  A few quotes for you from

"Always do what you are afraid to do." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

"There is no such thing as paranoia. Your worst fears can come true at any moment." - Hunter S. Thompson

"There are times when fear is good. It must keep its watchful place at the heart's controls." - Aeschylus

"Show me a guy who's afraid to look bad, and I'll show you a guy you can beat every time." - Lou Brock

Have a great week!

Ohio River Bridges Project Update
On 6/9/15, the Kentucky-Indiana Joint Board for the Ohio River Bridges Project appointed Parsons Transportation Group, Inc as interim toll services adviser.
The interim toll adviser will replace eTrans KY Inc.  A resolution by the Joint Board notes that ETrans' performance "has not met with the expectations of the Joint Board."
Cancellation of the eTrans contract does not affect the contract of the company hired to build, manage, and maintain the bridges projects' tolling system, Virginia-based Kapsch TrafficCom, nor is it expected to impact teh overall project schedule.

KYSITE Golf Outing Recap
We had 19 golfers at this year's golf outing.  Thanks to everyone who supported this year's event.  The clouds were upon us all day but the rain never came.  This year we had prizes for closest to the hole which Bill Seymour won and longest drive which Brian Meade's team won.  With your help we raised $1,800 for our scholarship fund that will be awarded to a deserving student.  We also want to take a moment to recognize our sponsors (in alphabetical order):
  • Abbie Jones Consulting
  • Baldwin & Sours
  • CCS
  • CDM Smith
  • DLZ
  • Gresham, Smith & Partners
  • HDR
  • Iron Armour
  • Neel-Schaffer
  • Palmer
  • Stantec
  • URS
  • WMB Inc.
We couldn't have done this without you.  Thanks again to everyone who supports our organization.

Mysterious Old Bridges

If anyone knows how to pronounce the town in Spain where this bridge is located, please let us know! Thanks to Charles Schaub for passing these along.

Have You Seen That?
While not hilarious as the title first implied, watching these animal see their on reflection in the mirror is quite amusing.  Enjoy!
