Hello KYSITE!
We just held the Annual Meeting and Thanksgiving is right around the corner. That means that things are slowing down around KYSITE. However, it is very important that we re-cap the events of the past week or so. Therefore, please take time to look at these next few articles and congratulate our award winners and new officers.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving! And let's hope you get to sit at the big people table this year!

KYSITE Annual Meeting
The KYSITE Annual Meeting took place on Thursday, November 13th at Hofbrauhaus in Newport, KY. A huge THANK YOU to all those who attended and participated in the Silent Auction. There were 35 members and guests in attendance. The majority of attendees arrived early for a brief tour of the brewery and tasting of the various brews.
Thank you to Lindsay Walker for arranging the event and to Anne Warnick and Allison Westcoate for gathering all the silent auction donations. We could not do it without you! The auction raised $515. The money raised by the auction goes to our scholarship fund, often offsetting the expenses for our Traffic Bowl team to travel and compete each year at the Southern District Annual Meeting in April.
The business portion of the meeting included some notes and thank yous from our outgoing president, Vanessa Fritsch, and a brief re-cap of the year. Awards were presented and the new officers were inducted by one of our most senior ranking members, Lonnie Yates.
More pictures from the meeting can be found here.

KYSITE Award Winners
This year, KYSITE was please to award two of our members for their service and contribution to the profession.
Jarrod Stanley (pictured left, accepting award from Vanessa Fritsch), of KYTC was awarded the Individual Activity Award. Jarrod works tirelessly as an overseer of the Highway Safety Improvement Program. You know how enthusiastic and genuine his passion for his profession is, if you have ever met Jarrod. Jarrod was unable to accept in person, but he prepared remarks read by Vanessa Fritsch. The George A. (Lonnie) Yates Distinguished Service Award was presented to Paul Slone. This award is presented to an individual who, over the person's professional career, has contributed outstandingly to the advancement of transportation engineering and the Kentucky Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers. Paul has been a long-standing member of the Section, serving as President in 1999 and is a current Director. Paul has always been a ready and willing presenter at meetings and has helped teach the PTOE Refresher. Paul has worked for both the public and private sector during his 22 year career. KYSITE Fall Technical Meeting Re-Cap
The fall technical meeting was held on Friday, November 14th at the Planning and Development Services of Kenton County. Special thanks to James Fausz of PDS for offering the lovely facility and presenting. Once again, Lindsay Walker did a fantastic job arranging the meeting and setting a diverse and interesting line-up of presenters for our KYSITE and APA-KY audience of approximately 18 folks.
Carol Callan-Ramler, KYTC District 6 Planning, kicked off the presentations with a look at the responsibilities and resources handled by the Planning Division of KYTC. Up next, Elad Mokadi with TANK (Transit Authority of Northern KY) summarized the Transit Network Study recently updated by TANK. James Fausz gave an overview of the Kenton County Transportation Plan update. The final presentation was a project highlight from Mike Bezold, KYTC District 6 Design, and Paul Slone, URS, about the US 42 and Weaver Road innovative quadrant intersection design.

Do You Remember This?: Office Space Part 7
This week's Office Space quote is a cleaned up one from Tom:
''Well, well, look. I already told you: I deal with the **** customers so the engineers don't have to. I have people skills; I am good at dealing with people. Can't you understand that? What the he** is wrong with you people?'' -Tom (Richard Reihle) |
Have You Seen That?
This week, we feature a video of "If Company Slogans were Honest". Perhaps the title alone is enough of an introduction.
