The Changing Face of Transportation

Greetings!
As I worked from my home office today due to our initial babysitting falling through, I struggled to find a relatively amusing introductory topic for this newsletter. During this struggle, the concept of work-life balance was ever-present in the back of mind. In a day and age where I can easily be reached by telephone call, text or email through a little computer in my pocket, I started to wonder if it is possible to truly separate work from home, and home from work. While the answer may be no, here are 37 tips that you might want to consider (thanks to themuse.com). A couple of my favorites:
- #7: It's important to remind yourself that you can turn invitations down for no other reason than you want that time to yourself, that your free time can be just that-free.
- #11: Even if I'm feeling busy, I remind myself that time away from work and the computer is energizing and important.
- #16: Make the most of the time you have in the office, and leave the rest for tomorrow.
While some of the tips are easier said than done, give them a try -- and good luck. And next time, if I don't take your call, or reply to your email or text, I just may be enjoying my time off -- or simply on another call!
Thanks for reading. And don't forget to contact KYSITE if you need anything.
- Scott, on behalf of the KYSITE Officers

The World's Most Amazing Bridges
By: Anne Warnick
This week features another beautiful Italian bridge. All content and photos come from www.weather.com.
#7: Bridge of Sighs, Venice, Italy
 |
Built in 1602, Venice's Bridge of Sighs got its name from the English poet Lord Byron in the 19th century, based on the legend that the bridge was the last view convicted prisoners would see of the beautiful Italian city before being taken to their prison cells. |
Translated from the Italian as "Ponte dei Sospiri," the Bridge of Sighs passes over the Rio di Palazzo in Venice and connects the detention facility known as the New Prison with the Doge's Palace, the home of the chief magistrate who ruled the city until the late 18th century. Today, the palace is an art museum that receives more than a million visitors each year.
Made of white limestone with stone bars over its windows, the bridge's style and name have since been imitated by architects around the world. Today there are bridges named after the Bridge of Sighs in England, Germany, Sweden, and even at the Venetian casino in Las Vegas. |
