Greetings!
Hello KYSITE!
Happy Valentine's Day to all! To celebrate, here are a few random quotes about love:
"Only time can heal your broken heart, just as only time can heal his broken arms and legs." - Miss Piggy
"If love is the answer, could you please rephrase the question?" - Lily Tomlin
"I was married by a judge. I should have asked for a jury." - Groucho Marx
"Love means never having to say you're sorry." - Ali MacGraw, Love Story
"Love is grand; divorce is a hundred grand." - Unknown
"Love is a lot like a backache, it doesn't show up on X-rays, but you know it's there." - George Burns
With Love,
- KYSITE Officers

Spring Meeting Announced!
 | In case you forgot, the green in the picture is called grass. |
Hopefully spring weather is just around the corner, and with that in mind the KYSITE board has been working hard to put together the Spring meeting to kick off the year. We will be returning to UK's campus in the Civil Engineering Raymond Building (some of us have fond and not so fond memories of time spent here). The meeting is scheduled for March 25th, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM.
Many of you remember the entertaining match between our Traffic Bowl students and UK professors last year. Not to be outdone, the practioners want in on the battle, so this year we will have 3 teams competing for bragging rights.
Stay tuned for more infomation on the speakers and presentations topics. A map of campus can be found here with parking and building location information. Special thanks to Director Eric Green for coordinating. |
Microsimulation Survey
The Center for Advanced Transportation Solutions Laboratory ( CATSLab) at UK is conducting a survey regarding use and application of traffic simulation software. The purpose of the survey is to collect data regarding traffic simulation users to direct future efforts and refinements of microsimulation and traffic visualization platforms to increase utility to practitioners and decision makers. Your assistance with the Survey is greatly apprecaited!
The survey should take less than 15 minutes to complete. Please contact Adam Kirk if you have any questions.

Bike Sharing Rolls into Cincinnati
Submitted by: Vanessa Fritsch
Sometime this summer, 20 bike stations will appear on corners across Downtown and Over-the-Rhine.
The stations will hold 200 bikes to be shared and used as part of the city's transportation system. But don't think of them as bikes to use for a leisurely ride along the river. Think of them as two-wheeled taxis.
Riders will use them to get from their offices Downtown to a dinner in Over-the Rhine. Or from an apartment building to a baseball game.
People would be able to buy an annual membership for $75 to $85. Membership would grant a person unlimited use of the bikes for 30 minutes at a time. The rider would then park the bike in a share station where it would be available for the next rider. Nonmembers would be able to rent a bike for $7 to $8 for a day.

The World's Most Amazing Bridges
By: Anne Warnick
This week's amazing bridge comes to you from Bosnia and Herzegovina. All pictures and descriptions comes straight from weather.com.
#12 Stari Most, Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina
 |
Commissioned by the Ottoman emperor Suleiman the Magnificent in 1557, this arch bridge over the Neretva River in modern-day Bosnia and Herzegovina stood for more than 400 years until it was destroyed in the Balkans War in 1993. It was rebuilt after the war ended, and re-opened in 2004.
|
Most of the historic Bosnian town of Mostar, including the 16th-century-era Stari Most (translated, "Old Bridge"), was destroyed by artillery fire in the Balkans War of the early 1990s. It wasn't until several years later that reconstruction began in this multicultural city where a variety of nationalities and ethnic groups - including Ottoman, western European and Mediterranean - have lived for centuries.
Book-ended by two towers often called the "bridge keepers," the bridge is made of stone and limestone and built into the cliffs along the Neretva River that flows through Mostar. Today, Stari Most is as famous for its history as for the annual diving competition held from its arch every summer, which usually draws only the bravest local divers willing to plunge into the Neretva's icy waters.

Have You Seen This?
In honor of Valentine's Day, we will re-visit a 'recut' movie. This time, it's an early 90's blockbuster. So...can Jurassic Park really be a romantic comedy? Check it out for yourself.
