From the director...
My calendar is dizzying with January-April events to make sure I have on my calendar - and yours. We returned from what seemed like a long vacation for me, the only person not working in my family and therefore home to be the caregiver for my grandson on the spectrum. It was great fun, but definitely a "busman's holiday." So I imagine that Oak Hill parents, and many of our structure-needing kids, were glad to see January 6th roll around. We have now welcomed them back with a brand new trampoline, newly scheduled Arts programming (a big thank you to our donors who have provided funding for both of these), and a string of beautiful, if too dry, Marin days. We have some great photos to share and a list of upcoming dates to note on your calendar. Happy New Year!
Please take note of the important events on the horizon, many of them addressing the important issue of transition.

Oak Hill Transition Dinner and Discussion, February 27
All Oak Hill parents are invited to a dinner on February 27th, hosted once again by our amazing Friend-of-Oak Hill, Lucie Alexander. She really cares about transition issues and wants us to get information and hear from families who have gone through it. This dinner will be held at a relatively informal restaurant right off 101 in the Mill Valley area of Marin. Liz McDonough, whose therapy practice focuses on teens, young adults, and their families, will facilitate our conversation and provide a context for Oak Hill alum parents to share their own experience. Current parents will also get a chance to chat about their questions, concerns and discoveries.

Welcome Rafael Garcia, OTS
For the next four months, our occupational therapy department will include Rafael Garcia, a student intern from Dominican University. Rafi has already contributed to the team by co-presenting, with Michele Rossi, a demonstration of the therapeutic uses of our sensory gym last Thursday afternoon. Check out Rafi's master's project, a Resource Guide titled "Transitioning to Employment for Young Adults with Autism and Asperger Syndrome".
