What's New in Hot Springs Village?
Exciting changes are taking place in Hot Springs Village. In June of 2013, Hot Springs Village welcomed new Chief Operating Officer, David Twiggs. Since his arrival, David has introduced the community to the concept of Placemaking and his vision of growing Hot Springs Village as a thriving and highly sought after community, both now and in the future. Enhancing the community's existing array of wonderful amenities and highlighting the magnificence of the Ouachita region is the focus of creating a gathering environment for the enjoyment of members and visitors alike. So what's new in Hot Springs Village and the Ouachita region? Topping off the list are Rock Porch Sessions, Grove Park and Farmer's Market, the Ouachita Rod and Gun Club, and Paddle Boards and Kayaks. Rock Porch Sessions: Hot Springs Village new Rock Porch Sessions create a gathering environment where residents and guests can meet new friends and socialize while listening to the music of local artists. Rock Porch Sessions, held the first Saturday each month, feature local artists who provide entertainment covering a variety of musical genres, including country, folk, blues and more. During the fall and cool nights of spring, participants gather around a warm, cozy fire pit, dine on hot bowls of chili, sip hot chocolate, and roast smore's, while enjoying the sounds of talented local artists. Grove Park and Farmer's Market: Community gardens are becoming more and more popular as people seek a healthy, natural lifestyle, hence, the development of the Village Garden Project. Grove Park, an exciting new venue is underway. Carved among the Pine trees and hardwoods, this new park will be the future home of the Village Farmer's Market. Farmers throughout the region are excited to assemble again this spring at the "Green Market at Grove Park". Farmers appreciate the opportunity to provide fresh produce and meats in such a natural environment and residents and guests can expect to find a variety of flora and fauna. As many area farmers grow year-round in greenhouses, they can provide fresh vegetables earlier in the season. However, shoppers can expect an abundance of seasonal crops such as green beans, ripe tomatoes and squash from early May through June. Other products available at the market include locally grown blueberries, in the summer, honey, jams, jellies, baked goods, and arts and crafts from local artisans. Ouachita Rod and Gun Club: According to Jim G. Miller, the expanse of vast green forests, natural waterways, and sparkling lakes of Arkansas provide a breeding ground for some of the best game hunting and trophy fishing in the country. The landscape offers truly invigorating opportunities for sports for those new to and experienced in hunting and fishing. The Ouachita Rod & Gun Club aspires to catapult interest in the region as a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts across the country. In an effort to create a legacy that will promote the outdoor lifestyle and to create a connection between outdoorsmen, the club is developing relationships with expert professional guides. "It's all about establishing a community where a sportsman can come and feel comfortable with a group of others with similar interests" (David Twiggs). On April 26th the club will start the season with a sunrise kayak-fishing tournament at Lake Cortez in Hot Springs Village, followed by a membership party. May 9th the club will host a second membership party featuring a trap shooting, hosted by the Mountain Valley Sportsman's Association, followed by a barbeque. Paddle Boards and Kayaks: Come summer, members and guests can enjoy a day of stand-up paddle boarding or kayaking on one of Hot Springs Village beautiful lakes. HSV's new Paddle Board and Kayak rental program will provide an excellent opportunity for everyone to participate in these fun sports without the need to own or haul their own equipment. The program also offers lessons for those new to the sports. Yes! Exciting changes are taking place in Hot Springs Village.
