Far Infrared  Heat
Far infrared (FIR) heat is a form of naturally occurring energy that heats objects by direct light conversion (DLC) All life requires FIR heat from the sun. FIR heat produces the same useful energy as the sun without the harmful ultraviolet rays or electromagnetic field radiation. FIR heat is not ultraviolet radiation but a narrow band of energy that penetrates 1.5"-2" deep into the body to increase circulation and nourish damaged tissue. It warms the body, not the surrounding air, stimulates our immune system and eliminates waste material through skin pores ( the body eliminates toxins naturally by sweating) and promotes blood circulation. The deep penetration of IFR activates and releases toxins from the subcutaneous fat just beneath the skin. It allows the body to gradually free stored toxins from the organs and tissues, eventually to be released through perspiration. It also helps peripheral blood vessels dilate, bringing relief and healing to muscle and soft tissue injuries. Increased blood circulation carries off metabolic waste products and delivers oxygen rich blood to oxygen depleted muscles, speeding healing time.
The benefits of the POD are:
  • Detoxification- Increased blood circulation stimulates sweat glands releasing built up toxins and waste. The profuse sweating brought on by being in the POD carries off deeply imbedded impurities, dead skin cells and brings skins own natural nutrients to the surface. Infra-red sauna use can actually prompt a state of hyperthermia(heat therapy) for the purpose of detoxification. This can purge toxins from fat cells, including chemical residues. It can also be helpful in the destruction of cancer cells because they begin to die off when the malignant tissue reaches 104-106 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Lymphatic Massage- As you lie in the POD, FIR helps loosen and relax muscles in conjunction with vibratory massage of the upper and lower body. A stagnant lymphatic system can reduce the body's ability to cleanse bacteria, viruses and cancer cells. In addition, lymphatic blockage can lead to frequent cold and flu symptoms, joint pain, headaches, GI issues, acne, cellulite, allergy and food sensitivities, and breast disorders. The intermingling FIR and vibratory massage will facilitate optimal lymphatic flow.
  • Oxygen Therapy- Oxygen flows freely through the POD chamber to combine with the FIR to enhance its effectiveness. Oxygen serves to temporarily increase the body's white blood cell count, which are natural antagonists of toxins and infection. The oxygen serves to enhance the immune system by boosting cellular immunity as well as further detoxifying the body.
  • Aromatherapy- Aromatherapy is form of healing that utilizes the properties and aromas of essential plant oils. These oils have been used for thousands of years. According to Dr. Mercola, "most essential oils have antibacterial qualities and have varying physical and emotional effects depending on the oil, such as stimulation, relaxation, pain relief and healing." Essential oils are absorbed through the skin and nose. When inhaled these oils reach the brain within two seconds. By either means they enter into the bloodstream, bringing oxygen and and nutrition to help remove carbon dioxide and other waste products.
  • Weight Loss- As you relax in the POD, listening to your favorite music your body is hard at work, producing sweat, pumping blood and burning calories, Studies have shown that a single thirty minute FIR session burns approximately 200 calories. As the body heats up (the POD can reach temperatures of 180F) it begins to perspire. This process increases the overall metabolic rate. To do so, huge amounts of energy are necessary which in turn reduces the body's excess salt and subcutaneous fat. Fat becomes water soluble at 100F thereby permitting it to be eliminated along with toxins during the sweating process.
Infrared Sauna Tips:
  • Dry skin brushing- Each day a new layer of skin replaces the old. The skin is the bodies largest elimination organ. As long as the pores are not blocked it releases nearly 2 pounds of toxic waste daily by means of perspiration. Some individuals due to heavy metal and toxic chemical burden may not produce sweat. A vigorous dry brushing of the skin with a natural fiber brush prior to going into the POD helps to remove dead skin cells and to stimulate circulation and the lymphatic system. Using lotions and creams on the day of your POD session, will clog the pores and inhibit the skins ability of respiration and waste removal. Blocked pores keep toxins in the body placing a burden on the other organs of elimination. When possible exercising before the POD session helps to increase oxygenation of cells and raises body temperature, this will jump start the detoxification process and produce sweat.
  • It is best to wait an hour after eating before going into POD. Be sure to drink plenty of water after your session to replenish lost fluids and minerals.
  • We start with short POD sessions, 20 minutes and increase duration and temperature over days or weeks as the body adjusts.
  • Infrared sauna along with a proper diet and daily exercise can speed healing and enhance physical, mental and spiritual well being.
