It's not too late to join in on the fun! We have two wonderful committees looking for...YOU!!! That's right if you just didn't get around to it, thought it was too late, etc., you are in luck. The PR Committee and the Fundraising Committee are checking to see if anyone else wants in on the fun.

Beginning this year something new and exciting will be happening. The PR and Fundraising Committees will work together to plan our annual fundraising event. So it will only be half the work and twice the fun! If interested in joining the PR Committee contact Jessica Rowley. If interested in joining the Fundraising Committee contact Nancy Wamser.
Fr. Dickson Cemetery Update

We continue to build on our relationship with Ernest Jordan and the historical black cemetery, Fr. Dickson.

In an effort to engage as many in our community as possible, several projects are being planned that will need varied talents, interests, and abilities.

1. We need writers, historians, genealogists who will donate their time to help develop a walking tour brochure of notable grave sites in the cemetery. We wish to relate the untold story of some of the noble individuals who lived and died while under the tyranny of slavery or segregation.   Mary Hart will be guiding this effort, please contact thundercin@aol.com if interested.

2.  Another workday is being tentatively planned for October 6 in conjunction with an outdoor mass.

All of the above work is in preparation for Sappington Days, October 13, where we will introduce the greater South County community to some of the outstanding African-Americans who have lived in our midst and are now interred at Fr. Dickson.

Although we can never adequately make amends for our nation's past sins, we can at least preserve the memories of those who suffered so much as a result. Telling their stories may soften hearts and break through the indifference of continued forms of racism.

It's hard for me, a Jew, to stay in the moment. Without the past, where is the guilt? And without the future, where is the dread? And without guilt and dread, who am I?
