MADA Celebrates Another Great Day at Queenstown
MADA hosted it's annual Golf Outing and Crab Feast on September 9. While the weather was quite a bit warmer than last year, the event was still a success!

We had two teams who won first place this year, one for the River Course and one team on the Lakes Course. A team representing Miller BrothersChevrolet Cadillac took first place on the River Course; players on this team were John Miller, Mike Miller, Jeff Witmer, and Steve Castro. First place on the Lakes Course went to Brian Wolf and Rick Shipley of Pritchett Controls and Travis Martz from MADA. Mike Kelly of Kelly Benefit Strategies and Jessica Bonin from Wells Fargo Dealer Services won longest drive for men and women, respectively.

Lakes Course 1st Place Team from Pritchett Controls and Travis Martz, MADA.

After a day of golf, steamed crabs, cold beer, and barbeque were a welcome treat. The crabs, provided by JR Thomas Seafood, were received to rave reviews. Guests also won some really great door prizes; Colin Gillespie of BG Products & Services won an Apple Watch Sport! We also raised funds for the Maryland Automobile Dealers Association Foundation through our 50/50 raffle. This year, we raised over $1,300 for the Foundation. Greg Pekala of Thompson Automotive held the winning ticket, but he quite graciously donated his proceeds back to the Foundation. Many thanks to Greg for his generosity!!!

Colin Gillespie, BG Products & Services, receives his new Apple Watch Sport!

Lost and Found Notice! We had three items left at the event; a camouflage Callaway baseball cap, one pair of Oakley sunglasses with a blue neck strap, and a white leather Nike golf glove. If any of these items are yours, please contact MADA to arrange for retrieving it.

We would like to thank all of the sponsors who helped make this a wonderful event and encourage our dealer members to please consider those who support your Association when making your business decisions.

Dealers Advised to Be Aware of Fair Lending Practices Due to New CFPB Rule
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's (CFPB) final larger participant rule went into effect August 31. The rule allows the CFPB to supervise and examine any non-bank finance company that originates at least 10,000 auto loans and leases per year. There are 34 non-bank auto lenders in that group, including automakers' captive finance companies.

The rule indirectly affects dealers, since the CFPB will have more authority over their lenders. In turn, those lenders will more closely monitor dealers' discretionary markups on customer auto loans.

Dealers are urged to be proactive in knowing markup policies for every lender they work with. After the CFPB contacts the 34 nonbank lenders, the lenders will likely send a letter to dealer clients explaining that they expect dealers to be compliant and follow a fair lending program. If a dealer has implemented the NADA fair lending policy, they should let the lender know that in a response.

Visit NADA's CFPB and Dealer-Assisted Finance Web page for more information about this issue and NADA's Fair Credit Program.
