Hotel and Dealer Registration Now Open for 2014 NADA Convention
The city of New Orleans, which has recently invested billions of dollars in major restoration projects, is hosting the 97th annual NADA Convention & Expo next January. It will be the 10th time the convention has been held in the Big Easy since 1973. The 2014 American Truck Dealers (ATD) Convention & Expo runs concurrently with NADA.
The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center was renovated this year. There's been a 55 percent increase in the number of restaurants over the past seven years, nearly $800 million in hotel upgrades and $77 million in street improvements, including a new streetcar line connecting the Sports District to the Central Business District and French Quarter. Steve Forbes, chairman and editor-in-chief of Forbes Media and NADA Chairman David Westcott, a new-car dealer in Burlington, N.C., will deliver keynote remarks on Saturday, Jan. 25. J.R. Martinez, an injured Army veteran and winner of the 13th season of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," will provide an inspirational address on Sunday, Jan. 26. Online registration and housing is now open. Dealers and their managers who register by Sept. 13 will receive a $100 discount off the onsite registration rate. For more information or to register, visit www.nadaconvention.org.

KPA Announces Environmental and Safety Risk Assessment Tool
In response to increased regulatory inspections, compliance fines, and heightened injuries in the automotive industry, KPA has created the Environmental & Safety Risk Assessment. The customized, complimentary assessment provides dealers and collision centers with a method to manage the Environment and Safety liabilities of their operations. There are many requirements set by state and federal regulatory agencies including OSHA, EPA and DOT, as well as best management practices that can be implemented to reduce risk and injury of employees. This program is designed to assess company liabilities, allowing managers to then implement solutions on their own.
The Environmental & Safety Risk Assessment allows managers to maintain a safe and compliant business, reducing risk of employee injury and protecting their operations from a hefty fine. The Tool manages compliance through a series of options and steps:
- Directs managers to easily determine which action items and requirements apply to their facility or dealership
- Defines the responsibilities for each action item.
- Provides resources to complete each requirement.
- Provides a personalized to do list of how to keep individual departments safe and compliant.
- Checks off completed action items and requirements.
- Highlights outstanding action items and requirements.
