Green Tip

In the Laundry Room
1. Only wash full loads- wash more items together
2. Wash clothes in cold water - 90% of the engery per load goes to heating the water
3. Hang more clothes up to dry - this will be done inside this time of year.
4. Don't overdry - dry loads for shorter time periods or hang damp
5. Keep the iron off the board - they use energy and deteriorate clothes. Fold clothes immediately after drying.
This is a repeat, but great reminders for all of us. It seems like we tend to have more laundry in the fall and winter seasons.

Ever wonder what the democratic donkey and republican elephant symbolize?

The democratic donkey was first presented in 1828 during Andrew Jackson's campaign for president. His opponents called him a jack-ass, and he returned this by using it in his favor to depict a strong-willed animal. The symbol then became famous when used during political cartoons during this time.
The republican elephant became a famous symbol after cartoonist, Thomas Nast featured it in a 1874 Harper's Weekly cartoon. The elephant was originally labeled, "The Republican Vote," and the democratic donkey was trying to chase it and other animals at the zoo away in the cartoon.
The republicans believe their elephant symbolizes strength and dignity.
The democrat's donkey symbolizes intelligence and bravery for their party.

Painting a Better Tomorrow
Irons Brothers Construction will be one of many teams volunteering this coming Saturday, November 3rd in the philanthropic event, "Painting a Better Tomorrow."
This 10th annual Master Builders Care Foundation painting project, features teams of skilled volunteers that will paint the interior of Shoreline's Vision House Jacob's Wells complex in one day.
Over 150 volunteers including some of Irons Brothers Construction's employees will be donating their time to paint the interior of this new complex that will house homeless women and children in 12 apartments, and also contain an after-school program, crisis counseling offices, and a community center.
Since 2003 this event has helped more than 45 local agencies within King and Snohomish counties have painting improvements completed by volunteer master builders members.
Joseph Irons and his staff believe that their skills and experience should help the communities where we live and work. Therefore, the company places a strong emphasis on community service and volunteerism for events such as this and several others throughout the year.
Part of the company's mission is to give back to others within our local communities. "We are proud to be a part of this painting event to help the Vision House Jacob's Wells agency in the City of Shoreline," stated Melissa Irons, office manager of Irons Brothers Construction and a Shoreline resident.
