Will deductions for charitable gifts change in 2013?

We find our nation's economy in a state of uncertainty; however, today we are certain about this year's tax deductions. Today you can establish a donor advised fund (with the ability to give to ANY 501(c)(3) organization, including churches, in the United States at any time in the future) or you can make a direct gift to any nonprofit or church and know what the tax deduction will be for your gift. Please contact us no later than December 31 - commfoundhmc@gmail.com or 256.535.2065 - if you need assistance or additional information. |

Community responds to $30,000 challenge grant | |
Matching gifts will enable the Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County to purchase the hardware and software necessary to manage and grow its assets.
"An anonymous donor had realized the need for a more sophisticated system for our community foundation and had offered $30,000 toward that system if we could secure a match by the end of the year. Several donors stepped forward. We want to especially thank our lead donors, Hank and Beth Pearce," commented James Gilbert, Foundation Board Chairman.
Hank Pearce stated, "Beth and I are happy to help the Community Foundation in this way. They provide wonderful services for donors, non-profits, and churches. They are a young foundation. We agree with the anonymous donor who made the match that they need this support so they can grow into a major force for the good of this community and we are happy to help."
Other donors included Bill Fleming, Vulcan Materials Company Foundation, Scott Parker, Torch Helps, Richard and Vicky Scherberger, Wendy Yang and Rick Myers, Sandra Moon, and Lyle and Ruth Taylor.
Executive Director Lynne Berry expressed her appreciation, "Our staff and our Board of Directors are so grateful. This provides one of the crucial building blocks for our community foundation, a fully integrated system designed specifically for community foundations, enabling us to manage donor advised, non-profit, designated, and field of interest funds, scholarships and contacts. We now manage 95 funds of different kinds. We take this responsibility very seriously. These gifts will enable us to step up to the next level of professionalism and service as we continue to grow this community foundation." |
