RAR SPONSOR OF ROCKFORD RIVER LIGHTS

This year Stroll on State will have a new addition - dancing, musically synchronized, holiday lights along the riverfront. The lights will continue each night until January 2nd. The Rockford Area REALTORS was one of the first major donors of the project because RAR is community lifting and wants to be at the center of anything that effects quality of life in Rockford, and will bring the people downtown and  promote growth. Change Smoke Detector Batteries

This past Sunday was the end of Daylight Savings Time. With the season of lighted indoor fireplaces in full swing, it is recommended to not only change your clocks back but change the batteries in your smoke detectors. This would be a great communication opportunity to also remind your customers to do the same.

REALTOR Lowes Program Ending

As of November 7, the Lowe's Program for REALTORS will no longer be available.  Any coupons sent via the "Lowe's Program for REALTORS®" system before November 6th at 11:59 pm will be honored through the expiration date printed on the coupon. Click here to read more about your program account.

GIVING THANKS

Thank goodness for the Mortgage Interest Deduction (MID). Without it, the average REALTOR would lose nearly $5,000 a year and the average homeowner would lose $3,500. RPAC proceeds are used to seek protection for the MID. Give thanks this holiday season, no later than December 10th, by becoming a donor and contributing $20 to RPAC. There is a bonus if you do! Take a peek!

Fraud Alert:

Your Association would like to again remind members about using caution when opening e-mails from someone that you were not expecting to receive one from or e-mails that are requesting you to wire transfer money prior to a closing. Rule of thumb...if in doubt do not click on e-mail or complete a task without first verifying the sender actually sent it. Perpetrators continue to hack e-mail accounts of REALTORS, real estate attorneys, sellers, buyers, title companies, anyone that they can impersonate in the real estate transaction, and trick receiver into making a transfer. 2015 Academy Expo

The Rockford Area REALTORS YPN again participated in the Annual Alignment Rockford Academy Expo, a regional career exploration event for over 3,000 high school freshmen. At the Academy Expo participating students experience career-related, hands-on demonstrations in a broad variety of careers which helps to forge a relevant link between curriculum and careers.
RAR continues to be in the nucleus of outstanding programs that have a positive affect on the Rockford area.
Check out the Expo video below produced by Jefferson High School students.

Airbag Recall Could Affect You

The Association feels it is important for its members to be safe while out on the road conducting business. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) just released a list of the vehicles involved in a recent lawsuit with the makers of an air bag that could explode on compact causing potential death. Over 19 million vehicles have these Takata airbags in them. To see if you car is on the list and to learn more go to safecar.gov. If your car is on the list your car dealer may be able to replace the air bag as part of this recall.

Housing Market Offers Positive Outlook

According to NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun in his latest column for Forbes, despite a slower economy, U.S. population growth will fuel growing housing demand. Read more.
