Review Sign Ordinance
Often times the Association receives calls from members siting that they observed violations in regards to real estate signs and the City of Rockford and Winnebago County Sign Ordinance. Please review the ordinance to assure that you are in compliance. It would be unfortunate if all REALTORS lost the privilege of being able to display marketing signs due to misuse. Call for Action
HB 1376 & HB1380
Stop HB 1376 and Sewer Video Inspection Mandates!
Tell your legislator that every property owner who wants to sell should not have to hire licensed plumbers to inspect their sewer pipes by video camera and write reports for buyers. Read more and take action!
It is also important to contact your legislators regarding HB1380. This bill would allow the municipality to skip the foreclosure proceeding on the lien of the offending property, and instead obtain a judgement lien against ALL real estate of the owner.
IAR opposes the creation of impairments of property rights on non-offending properties and argue that municipalities already have effective mechanisms to allow them to recover any removal costs owed to them.

RPAC Cinco De Mayo

New Closing Requirements
The training sessions are completed. Over 400 members and guests attended the 2 hour sessions where a panel of industry experts presented valuable information on the changes that will take effect on August 1, 2015. A list of Five Things an Agent Needs to Know was distributed along with a Checklist for Closing a Purchase. The checklist was developed at the request and with input from local lenders. The checklist can also be found under the "Documents/Industry Information" section in LAMPS.

Request Your On-site Meeting
The Rockford Area REALTORS Leadership team is conducting on-site meetings at the real estate offices. The objective of the sessions is to inform members what the Board is doing to support the individual success of its members and to receive input from members regarding the MLS services decision that is in process. Any DR that is interested in scheduling a visit from the Leadership Team may do so by calling Marcia at 395-6776 or e-mailing her at marcia@rockfordarearealtors.org. All DR's are encouraged to facilitate a meeting.

What Drives Residents to and from Illinois?
The Illinois Association of REALTORS has recently commissioned a study to identify why residents and businesses are staying or leaving Illinois. The Rockford Area REALTORS, in partnership with the RAEDC and Chamber of Commerce, have commissioned an overlay study of Winnebago County that will give us even more drilled down data.
