Alignment Rockford Academy Expo
Rockford Area REALTOR'S YPN Council Wins!


Over 2,700 freshman students in the Rockford area attended the Alignment Rockford Academy Expo on Tuesday, September 16th at the BMO Harris Center to learn about various career paths. The Rockford Area REALTORS YPN council hosted the real estate booth and were presented with the "Outstanding Award" for the business category. Congratulations Brad and the rest of the council! Quinn Signs Bill
Right to Provide BPOs
 
Gov. Quinn recently signed into law SB3044, which guarantees that Illinois real estate brokers can conduct broker price opinions for their clients. IAR strongly supported the bill which will protect a valuable business service. Read more on the IARbuzz blog.


FHA Borrowing Just Got Better

Real estate consumers scored a big one this month when the Federal Housing Administration announced it would eliminate prepayment penalties for borrowers. Watch this video to learn more about this change plus important guidance on copyright law.

Members have asked the Association to remind their business associates that they MUST make an appointment and have it confirmed prior to entering a property. This is applicable to ANY SentriLock user.

Excessive Data Usage

Have you noticed your cell phone bill skyrocketing due to a sudden surge in data usage? Your Facebook app might be to blame. The app automatically loads and starts playing videos that are in your feed. Those videos can quickly eat through your data plan, leading to additional charges on your cell phone. Read more on how to change your settings to eliminate this issue.

The latest issue of D.R. Legal News highlights what the Medical Marijuana Law can mean to you as a real estate broker and others in the industry. You can also view seven quick facts about Illinois' medical marijuana law on the IARbuzz blog.   

District 205 Update
 
School District 205 has lots to celebrate these days.

The Community Foundation has awarded Rockford Robotics, through RPS 205, a $20,000 grant for the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Roll Out. The Robotics programs help students develop STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, organization, communication and teamwork. Read more.

The district is also celebrating the opening of a new school-based health center at Auburn High School. A fully staffed, 3,780 square-foot professional health and dental care facility is located within the high school and will offer medical, dental, vision and behavioral health care, in addition to nutritional and wellness education.
