YPN Chairs Go to Retreat

The Rockford Area REALTORS YPN Council has been formulated and they are off and running. Brad Shields, Chairperson, and Tyler Ragan, Vice-Chair, attended the NAR YPN Retreat in Chicago this week. (See group photo on side bar) The YPN produces leaders and the retreat certainly reflected on that. The group engaged in a full-day workshop on how to run stronger networks and build better real estate businesses. The Council will be hosting the Alignment Academy Expo Real Estate booth on September 16th to educate freshman students about real estate careers.

Watch for future mailings regarding the YPN Kick-Off event.

Keep Calm
There are Ways to Stay Cool and Save

This week will continue to offer challenges to stay cool. There are rebates available for central air conditioning and weatherization that just might be the answer for you.

With threats of energy costs increasing in the near future, it may be wise to review your home living routine as well. ComEd offers a great tip sheet on ways to conserve energy.

Net Neutrality
Will Your Company Be Able to Afford the "Fast Lane"?

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is proposing a rule that could create "fast" and "slow" lanes on the Internet, potentially affecting the quality of consumers' experience on real estate websites. Melanie Wyne, of NAR Government Affairs, sits down with two experts on net neutrality to talk about why the changes being contemplated could be harmful to members' businesses. Click here to get a better understanding of what is currently being discussed behind the scenes regarding this topic.

September
National Courtesy Month - Pay It Forward

September is soon approaching, and since it will be National Courtesy Month, it may be a good time to review the spirit of etiquette when conducting business in the real estate industry.

NAR produced this 10 minute video, called A Pathway to Professional Conduct, which highlights some things to remember when showing property and ways of extending courtesy to your business peers and customers.

Although not all inclusive, this Pathways to Professionalism List, can certainly give some guidance of etiquette.
