Portola Valley School District First Bike/Walk to School of 2016!

ORMONDALE ~ Wednesday, March 23
CORTE MADERA ~ Friday, March 25
In order to take more cars off the road and support a healthy, active lifestyle, we are encouraging Portola Valley School District students to walk, bike, scooter and skateboard to school everyday, with extra effort this Wednesday and Friday! Remember, all students who participate in Bike/Walk to school day will receive a token of our appreciation. hmmm, what will it be this time?
Something extra special at CMS MARCH 25~BIKE RODEO for 4th/5th graders.
On Friday, March 25th, our CMS 4th and 5th graders will have the fabulous opportunity to experience a Bike Rodeo. Students will be engaging in fun activities and games that educate them on transportation safety and etiquette on the road.
Please bring your students bikes and helmets to the 4/5 area before school, or better yet, have them ride their bike to school that day so they will have it for the rodeo!
With such an enthusiastic community of students and parents, eager to use various modes of transportation to get to school; please pay special attention to our children on the side of the road!
Thank you for keeping our students safe and supporting a healthy lifestyle for our children!

Robotics at CMS!
| |
This Tuesday at 2:15, J. Thomas Darmody will bring his STEM-focused assembly to our students, giving them a chance to explore the world of robotics. He'll have a range of bots to illustrate concepts related to electricity, programming, feedback loops and more. Kids who are inspired to do more hands-on work with robotics should check out CMS's Robotics Club!
Much thanks to PTO for bringing this assembly to our school.

CMS Thank You!

The PTO just hosted another super successful Staff Appreciation Week at CMS this past week. Staff were treated to personalized coffee drinks
on Monday, a wonderful assortment of fruit on Tuesday, a Wild Wild West themed sit down luncheon on Wednesday, personalized gifts, and a delicious luncheon spread on Friday in the staff room.
None of this would have happened without our wonderful chairs: Shannon Basch and Mary Nam for planning the entire week of events, and Elise Gabrielson and Sarah Byrne for the amazing Wednesday luncheon. I know the staff really appreciates all that our volunteers do and so do we. Thank you to all our volunteers for making this an extra special week at CMS!
