Ormondale Back to School BBQ
| |
The Ormondale Back to School Barbecue last Friday was one of our most fun PTO community events so if you see Lisa Giblin Freccia and Lori Palazzolo around campus, please go up and thank them for all they did to make this such an enjoyable evening! Their army of helpers included: Marjel Scheuer, Cori Moesta, Jen Hanley, Brook Coffee, Jen and Eric Arends, Susan McLaughlin, Geoff Crouse, Jenni Farrell, Hayley Leinfelder, Toby Freccia, Arely Huitron, and The Keegan and Gonzales Families.
Our exciting news is that we have targeted some new volunteer opportunities for parents next year which will include playground/child supervision and general clean-up after the event. These new volunteer openings will help us make the Ormondale BBQ an even more fun place to be next year. Thank you, in advance, Everyone!

TB Testing
| |
A total of 87 people (parent volunteers and staff) turned up for TB testing at Ormondale and Corte Madera last week in a PTO service that was coordinated and run by Ormondale PTO VP, Brooke Day - thank you, Brooke. Every year, some of our parent healthcare professionals give up their time to arrive bright and early at Ormondale, administer the TB test, and do the reads two days later. Sincere thanks to Kristin Brew, Jen Maw, Lori Chung and Cheryl Richter for generously providing this service to our school community.

ORM Assembly
| |
Water Education Assembly at Ormondale:
This Wednesday 9/23, 10:35 AM
Silicon Valley Clean Water education program sponsors free wastewater awareness assemblies in local schools. The musical group ZunZun ( www.zunzuntunes.com) will teach our students about wastewater, water science and water awareness in a fun and interactive way using musical instruments from all over the world. They will learn about things that are going better in our bay every year and the things they can do to keep improving our ecosystem.
Be sure to ask your son(s) or daughter(s) to share a little about what they learned after school on Wednesday. And don't be surprised if you get a little song and dance as an answer!

CMS families are welcome any time at the fair, but are especially invited to come to the Family Fun Night with the Curveball Slider Truck from 5-7pm on Tues, 9/29 in the Ormondale MUR. If you can't make it to Ormondale, you can support the book fair and find great middle-grade books at our online book fair. Click here. Happy reading!

Creative Art For Young Children
|
|
Fall 2015 Session at the Portola Valley Town Center
Classes run Sept. 23 - Dec. 12th; no classes Nov. 25 - 28th
Primitive art and art made by children share a simplistic quality. I love to pair
the two in a series of art projects we call "Caveman Art." For the Fall session we will begin with clay, pretending we live in prehistoric times; collecting clay by a stream and sculpting it into prehistoric animals and dinosaurs. The kids will hear the story about a cave boy who becomes a cave painter and then paint their own cave wall and make their own brushes...read "Rembrandt and the Boy Who Drew Dogs" and study Giotto who first drew on rocks like a caveman. We finish with our ever popular Art Show and the Magic Brush! WED 1-3:00 3-5 yrs WED 3:30-5:30 k-2nd TH 3:30-5:30 k-2nd FRI 1-3:00 prek-k FRI 3:30-5:30 3rd-5th SAT 10-12:00 4-8 yrs SAT 1-3:00 4-8 yr Fee: $380 TO REGISTER:Contact Cindy at the Portola Valley Town Hall at 851-1700 ext 200, or register online here.
